A very large imposing red brick church, seems ultimately out of place in it's small Yorkshire town surroundings, but indeed it is a very well designed building which has plenty of spaces in it's own car park. Attended here for the baptism of a good friends child, the priest seemed very welcoming inside this large Catholic church, with plenty of one liners on hand, although some I found to be generic and slightly inappropriate. The priest gave a through briefing in the old vestry rooms before the baptism, taking care to understand all of the different religious denominations of the God parents present. The baptism itself was smooth and swift with no hiccups. The interior is a little tired but still in pretty good shape, with a lot of rows of long wooden benches, very high vaulted ceilings, and religious effigies and decorations dotted all around, the area at the front near the front was like something frozen in time, not unlike most churches I have visited of this size and age in the UK. A very clean and tidy church with a welcoming entrance, which is not expected from the outside as the entrance door/steps are somewhat understated. Worth a visit if you love churches, but not a tourist trap for sure, serves the locals very well.
