About Yorkshire Wolds Music Festival
Now in its fourth season, YWMF is an event where world-class musicians play some of the most sublime music, fantastic facilitators engage people young and old with educational grassroots workshops and communities gather to celebrate the musical life of the Wolds.
Always with an eye on inspiring & nurturing future talent, this year, they have a FREE Boomwhacker workshop on 17th May for kids aged 4-14. Great fun for the whole family, making music with plastic tubes!
Also on the same day is the community Come & Play where anything goes - any genre, any instrument, any age & any level of experience, free to all. When it comes to family fun, there’s nothing better than a good old- fashioned knees-up! The Ceilidh on 15th May will be a great chance to let your hair down and learn some moves, with Pie & Peas available to order, a fully-licensed bar for the big people and soft drinks for the little ones. It’s in a real barn too... Field House Barn Café near Tibthorpe is a friendly place with oodles of space to charge around.
Alongside community capers and family fun, there’s some fabulous music to soak up:
• A magically atmospheric late-night candlelit concert with harpist Cerys Rees in a beautiful Norman church on 15th May
• A journey though all sorts of musical tales with violist Sonia Maurer, cellist Christina Waldock and pianist Mark Knoop on 16th May
• A moment to reflect and bask in the glorious sound of the violin in different guises on 17th May To cap things off, there will be an intimate Mystery Dinner Concert on 17th May in the beautifully eccentric Old Chapel in North Dalton. Chance to chat with the players, meet new people and enjoy good food & wine.
Why not make a weekend of it? There’s bags of stuff for families to enjoy, lovely walking & cycling routes, gastropubs, delis, country houses, food & drink tours, not to mention miles of beautiful coastline... If you’re looking for places to stay, you can camp at Field House, stay at one of the many local airbnbs, or book a room at the Star Inn at North Dalton, Wolds Village in Bainton, Highfield House in Driffield or the Pipe & Glass in South Dalton.
YWMF is run by volunteers and any profit from the festival goes towards future workshops, community projects and live events. All events are either free or offered on a donations basis. For further info & tickets, visit https ://shorturl.at/za85W or scan the QR code in the poster below.
