We arrived by coach for a football game at Northallerton Town. I was looking for a pint of great Yorkshire real ale. It was 13:30 on a Saturday afternoon and the pub was deserted. Four of us walked in and out again. The landlord proudly announced to us that they hadn't sold any real ale for twenty one as the locals wouldn't drink it. I'm not surprised twenty one years ago but today real ale pubs do really well. He also told us that we wouldn't find any in the town either. We didn't have time to walk further but there are three real ale outlets in Northallerton. Stumble Inn; Origin and Oddfellows Arms plus a Wetherspooons, The Buck Inn. That's four he doesn't know about. He also told us that he had plenty of lovely keg lagers for us to try. I pointed out that the locals don't seem to want to drink that either as the place was deserted and we promptly left it thus.
Just had a takeaway Sunday lunch for the first time at the lion can only say it was amazing large portions and beautiful cooked, sitting in my caravan stuffed now yum yum
A nice, homely local pub. Friendly staff. The food was cheap, £9 for a drink and a meal, but was very good. They serve food after 5pm There is a minimum card purchase of £5 though so be careful if you don't carry cash like me.
Went here after a wedding, amazing hospitality, friendly staff and good foot as well
Bit of a Warren to find the bar to order morning coffee. It seemed a bit slow. We ordered 4 tea cakes but they'd ran out and only had 2 left... The entrance door to first table was a bit restricted as other door was out of use... Nice surroundings !
