As soon as you walk in, you're told to get a table number before you can order. I found a table (five) and went back to give the table number and my order to my husband at the till before heading back to the table. By this time, someone else had taken this table so I had to find another table (eight) and go back to the till to tell them the change of table number. The server came to our table with two cups in his hand, gave my husband his coffee but gave a hot chocolate to table five. Funnily enough, I ordered a hot chocolate. Eventually, my hot chocolate arrived. There was no sign of the two cakes that were ordered at the same time as the drinks. My husband went to find out where the cakes had got to and, despite reminding them what we ordered, when they brought the cakes through, they got one of them wrong. We had given up by this point so didn't bother correcting them. Instead we vowed never to go there again. Another establishment in Northallerton asks for a table number before you place your order, however, you have to put a reserved sign on that table so that no-one else takes the table. A simple yet extremely effective solution?
Always such a positive experience here. Delicious sandwiches and coffee, the staff are super friendly, quick and consistently go above and beyond to make your experience great. The vibes are immaculate, decor is top-tier and finally we have a larger space for an independent coffee shop in the town centre. Love that they made use of a beautiful historic building a lot of residents will have never otherwise experienced.
Came for lunch, had fight club Bagel and Garlic butter grilled chicken cheese. Really delicious fresh food, good presentation and friendly staff. Slightly on expensive side but lovely atmosphere. Would recommend!
The best sandwich I’ve ever had - super fresh ingredients, proper bread (no horrible processed stuff) and amazing value for money. Very tasteful decor inside and a lovely outdoor seating area. Will definitely return.
We'd been to the sister cafe on south parade on Sunday to ask about hot food we were told they only offered what was in chiller but there other cafe on Zetland street offered hot food so we had a brew and headed for Zetland street first to be told the kitchen wasn't open that day to be then told by same member of staff that they stop serving at 2:30. The staff member in South parade never told us this. But which was it the kitchen wasn't open that day or it was to late? We had 2 hot chocolates at slice that were Luke warm at best. Me and my girlfriend are very disappointed at being messed around and having used southside for drinks we wanted to continue supporting an independent cafe and it's sister site but don't plan on going back. Very disappointing service. Also if south side doesn't offer hot food and toast why advertise it on menu board??
