The assistants are absolutely dreadful they have zero people skills, loud and very rude. Asking personal questions in a very derogatory manner. Being told in no uncertain terms to see your gp because you are in pain and would like some relief and being refused by counter assistants is very upsetting. Could someone please let them know it can take a week to see a GP. The actual pharmacists are pleasant when you get a chance to speak to them.
Don't waste your time, wait for a GP appointment. I booked an appointment for my teenage son who had swollen glands, sore throat etc. As it was on the list of things you can see a pharmacist about, I thought it would be better to use Tesco than waste a GPs time. Arrived in time for appointment, pharmacist was on his break. Once the pharmacist was off his break, he walked straight past into the back of the pharmacy. Completely ignored me and my son and did not even see him. All he did was relay messages to the counter staff in full hearing shot of the rest of the store. We left having not seen the pharmacist and spending £10 on over the counter remedies that were not required. Next day, saw our GP and was immediately prescribed antibiotics (free for U18's) which could have been given in the pharmacy if he could even be bothered to see him - utterly useless and rude.
Saturday 21/10 Tesco Northallerton pharmacy. I waited in a sizeable queue as only one assistant was serving. I asked for a small tube of cream that contains 1% hydracortisone a product that is sold over the counter without prescription. The assistant questioned me in a loud voice as to why I needed it. As the pharmacy is in a very public area I tried to be discreet in my answers and show that I knew how to use the cream sensibly. Despite this she repeatedly went to speak to the pharmacist at the back of the shop. He made no attempt to come and see me. Eventually I was refused the cream. The reason stated was that I needed a full assessment ( not sure what that would consist of !!! ) and that they were not licensed to sell it to me. By this time EVERYONE in the queue knew why I was there it was so embarrassing. We are told to use our friendly pharmacies more NOT THIS ONE ! Their response was so over the top and unprofessional. Customer service training required ! I was able to purchase this item at another pharmacy without fuss.
I went to the pharmacy while shopping today. I usually there was no queue. Despite this the two women on the counter continued to gossip behind the till glancing and making eye contact with me occasionally. It made me feel as though I was invisible. I left without getting what I went in for. It's such a let down as the staff I usually encounter in Tesco northallerton are polite and helpful as a rule
Extremely poor service. The pharmacist refused to sell me a product due to contraindications. However when I asked him to explain in detail his concerns regarding this issue, he refused. Suggested that I speak to my GP. It being a Saturday afternoon I was unable to do so therefore again asked him to explain, again he did not. He was very pointed and rude to me in front of other customers, I felt very embarrassed and insulted. I noted that he was also checking a child's rash on his face and neck again without any consideration for privacy or dignity for the child or parent. If Tesco are going to employ Pharmacists who think they are GPs for goodness sake give them some basic social skills training. His level of personal hygiene might also be addressed. If products are not going to be sold take them off the shelves. Do not embarrass and insult customers.
