Most other pubs could learn from this one. From the moment you enter the bar you’ll made welcome. We stayed in a cottage next door so visited three times during our stay. Wonderful food, home cooked pies one evening, a great Sunday roast, the best we’ve ever eaten out, last night choose from the South African menu. Great beer 🍺 , fantastic food, wonderful atmosphere. Pity it’s 250 miles from home 🏠. Service was exceptional. 10/10.

Great local pub - relaxing atmosphere with a nice buzz and lovely food. Leanne who served us was really friendly and attentive, as was the owner. Haven’t been here for a few years (it was the best Sunday roast the last time!) - definitely won’t leave it as long next time! ☺️🌟

Needed to stop for lunch on our way to Whitby and this pub was just off the A64. What a delight! Very welcoming host- Scott- open fires, very dog friendly, fabulous menu with lots of South African specialties and excellent beer too. I had the home made salmon and spinach pie and my partner had the burger. Both delicious 😋 Will find a reason to go back as soon as possible!

on a hot Yorkshire Saturday lunchtime we stumbled upon this South African pub, in old Malton. and what a find! I'd never had Bobotie before, a kind of curried meat, veg and rice dish: simply excellent. one of our group had a giant bacon, egg and chips sandwich which would easily have satisfied three people. we ate outside in the garden, which was splendid. and the landlord mixed in some dry South African humour which just made it all great fun. highly recommended!
