Service was appalling which is shame as the food was lovely. After asking 4 times for water for the table it never arrived. No spoons arrived with the starters and when we asked a waiter, he said he would bring some over but they never appeared. We asked the other waitress and we were told to use our desert spoons for starters. Her manner was actually quite funny as if we were asking for something very strange. When mains arrived no additional cutlery came with it so again those with pasta had to use desert spoons that others on the table had not used…… we were now totally out of deserts spoons! We were asked if we wanted deserts and we said yes but then the desert menus never came. Probably best since we had run out of desert spoons and with cutlery limited they have had to do some washing up! We sat for 40 minutes with no deserts and no drinks whilst the staff walked straight past us setting the tables for the following day. The restaurant was quiet to say it’s a few days before Xmas. Tables spare all evening and to be honest I can see why if others have experienced the same service. The brass band called in to do some carols which was a nice touch but it’s always so loud hearing the conversation on our table of 6 was difficult We stood with our coats on by the bar ready to leave and and we had to ask three time for the bill- we didn’t pay the added service charge but was asked if everything was ok with the meal. We explained the issues. The waitress seemed unsure on how to respond. She offered a Baileys as a peace offering, though it was just before 10pm ND closing time felt close so we headed off to the Bingley Arms. Overall result ~ Nice food. Memorable service for all the wrong reasons.
Waited over an hour to be seated from our original booking time. staff then tried to seat 4 of us on a tiny table for 2. When finally seated had to ask 3 times to order. Drinks order did not arrive but charged on the bill. One of the chefs tried to do some service recovery but sadly was too late. This is the second time in 10 months we have been and waited 1 hour to be seated. Not great when you’ve got baby sitters on the payroll and in a rush. The food was fairly good when it did arrive. Tried to discuss a reduction in the bill due to poor service and was not offered anything. Won’t be going again.
Had a lovely lunch today. The atmosphere was so chilled very quiet and lovely music playing. The food was great as always. Excellent service too…..don’t be fooled though every weekend night you’d be lucky to get a table as it’s so good here.
We had a reservation for 7pm but was waiting over an hour to be seated. There were other groups who were also waiting around the same length of time. We expected it to be busy with it being a Friday in December but it appeared the restaurant had booked way too many people in for the evening. When we were eventually seated, we ordered some drinks which never arrived however we found they had been added to the bill. The food was great however the atmosphere and waiting times have caused the bad review. It was difficult to have a conversation as there was a live singer on which was really loud. The volume was turned up and down throughout the evening and it just felt very disorganised. A service charge was also added to the bill along with the drinks which never arrived which we asked to be removed. The servers themselves were clearly run off their feet and did try to rectify the poor experience however are clearly battling with poor management. Unfortunately this will be our last visit to Capri at Horbury.
Ordered food online, was over half an hour late and when we phoned it took over 7 phone calls to get through to the restaurant , and the boxes of chips was delivered on top of one of the pizza boxes and as such squished the pizza to the top of the box making it un- edible and the chips wear soggy and floppy. Will not be ordering again
