The Stables & The Roost- Luxury Self Catering Cottages

Absolutely amazing as usual. We stayed 2 weeks this year instead of just one, it was the most relaxing holiday! The dogs were free to just safely enjoy the big enclosed gardens, local villages and places to visit are amazing and scenic, the cottage is more than we'll equipt and it's genuinely one of the best places we ever stay. Hence why we keep returning. 😊. We will be back soon. Lisa , Jason and family are so welcoming and lovely. Highly recommend the stables and the roost to anybody looking for a dog friendly , fabulous holiday 😀

Set in very quiet location but with easy access to plenty of places to visit it's perfect for chill out break or active holiday. We were a group of four friends with five dogs between us and Lisa made us all very welcome. From dog treats, balls and beds for the pets to fluffy towels, robes, toiletries and a food welcome pack for the humans, we were definitely spoilt. Fab views and beautiful sunsets to be seen from the safe garden and plenty of walks nearby. We visited Helmsley, via a 10 km muddy walk, the locals there are so helpful and super dog friendly, finding us a taxi willing to take us back to the cottage. Ampleforth Abbey & college was also worth a visit for different late afternoon dog walk around the grounds of the beautiful buildings. All in all it was a perfect weekend and we will be back.

We stayed here in January two years ago and loved every minute of it!!! Our dogs were as welcomed as we were and there were all the essentials for if we had forgotten things. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking and the shower was amazing!!! You could buy fresh eggs from the garden every day and kindling and logs so you didn’t have to leave the warmth and comfort of the house!! Highly recommended!!!!

This is our second visit back to the stables. Our last visit was back in September 2014. Another fantastic stay at the Stables! Even though our second visit has been during a time where we are all experiencing some difficult times due to covid 19, Lisa, Jason, Oliver and Alfie made our stay feel safe, warm and welcoming. The Stables were extremely clean and tidy and we were given sanitizing gel and extra anti bacterial cleaning products to help us feel secure and safe during our stay. The welcome hamper was fantastic! Especially the cake! The stables and surrounding areas are stunning! Its a wonderful place to come and stay, relax and feel safe and enjoy the beautiful area of Oswaldkirk and north Yorkshire. Thank you Lisa, Jason, Oliver and Alfie for such a wonderful stay. We will definitely be back soon.

Fantastic holiday cottage, dog friendly, huge garden for children and dogs, games room a great addition to keep children and adults occupied. Really comftable beds, owners are great and accommodating
