Our first visit here, outstanding food and excellent service. Opted for the Sunday roast, one chicken and one beef. The meal came with all the trimmings and a beautiful gravy; everything was cooked to perfection. Easily one of the best (if not THE best) roasts in the area. Highly recommended. 31/8/2025 Update - revisited at the weekend, superb quality once again.

Amazing food and lovely staff. Popped in for a drink after a day out but stayed for a fab meal. It was a bit quiet as early evening but the pub has a lovely country, homely feel. Definitely recommend & definitely going back soon.

Really disappointed with the experience here . I reserved a table 24/10/25 for a table on 16/11/25, over 3 weeks in advance . When we arrived we were shown to the "bar" area. The area was small , the furniture okay for a drink but not for a pricey lunch. To top it off we were right next to a large dog with a rancid wet dog smell. I have no issue with dogs or dogs in pubs. What I do have an issue with is sitting next to one when I reserved a table for a Sunday lunch in an restaurant and after revisiting my initial booking there was no mention of being sat in the bar. If this had been stated at the time of booking I would have cancelled. We did ask to be moved but were told the restaurant was full which is why we were seated in the bar . My issue with this is that at the time there were empty tables so why could we not have had one and sit the next arrivals in the bar. As I had my elderly mother with me as a birthday treat it was even more disappointing. We obviously left as the staff made no attempt to rectify the issue just kept repeating they were full , even though as previously stated at that time there were empty tables available. I think it is pure greed that you are taking bookings and seating people in inadequate surroundings . We had booked for the Sunday lunch , not a bar meal and you certainly did not do anything to try to help resolve the situation. Obviously we will not be back.

A friend introduced me to The Roebuck recently when we went for lunch. It is a favourite place of her and her husband. We each had a different type of pie with mash and veg. Our meals were excellent and the service friendly and prompt. Will definitely go again. Soon I hope. I understand it is doggy friendly too.
