Lovely shop with friendly staff. Beautiful donations, fairly priced for what they are. Oxfam is doing wonderful work around the world, so I am pleased to support them!
Nice selection of old collectible vinyl and some rare CD’s. Worth checking out on a regular basis
Not a charity, it is a business place! I ask the lady for a £3 discount because I am disabled person and she said no! Shame Is not a charity! I really wanted the telescope because I am extremely poor and I have so much passion and motivation for astronomy. It cost £22 and I have not much money. Also my disabled friend have a so much interest in planet 🌎 and star 🌟
Went into Oxfam Otley today so disappointed with attitude of the “paid” member of staff. Found a sweat top it had marks on the front of it and pilled really badly. I took it to the counter to speak to them to see if anything could be done with the price. The rather shy young lad was really helpful and rang upstairs where the other member of staff was. She told him to send the said top upstairs in the lift! He was really busy at the till. I waited and waited and waited. The young lad rang the staff upstairs to ask what was happening with the sweat top. She said she has taken it off sale! I asked if I could speak to her the young man asked if she would come down to talk to me, she refused. I was so upset. I was upset for 2 reasons her lack of support to the young volunteer left on his own in the very busy shop. But by her attitude to not come down physically to speak to a member of the public about something that was brought to her attention. I felt for the young lad left on his own with a queue of people waiting to pay, also people asking him questions when she was upstairs at a busy time. These volunteers are exactly that volunteers and should be supported NOT! Left on their own holster their mentor is elsewhere out of sight doing goodness knows what!!
Oxfam Charity Shop Otley Visited Ottley today (8th August 2023) and did the rounds of charity shops etc without any issues until we tried to enter Ottley “Oxfam Charity Shop” only to be firmly told we were not allowed in with our little elderly blind dog who was in a small pram as she can’t walk very far and has separation anxiety issues. She is absolutely no problem to anyone, she is quiet and always remains in her pram. There was another pram in the shop with a child in and so couldn’t understand the problem. Sadly just another charity shop that is out of touch and is unable to realise Dogs are family members just like children etc and will use ridiculous excuses such as… “Some people are allergic” or “Some ethnic religion’s don’t like dogs” This is just not acceptable and is inexcusable behaviour. After all She was in a pram and not on foot and in my experience dogs are far better behaved than many children. I am disgusted with this kind of attitude and would suggest anyone who has a dog to boycott this charity until it stops discriminating against them. There are a lot of more deserving charities on our high streets that welcome all family members.
