I attended an event at the sailing club last September at which one of the club's members drove his vehicle over my bike, totally writing it off. Initially the member was very apologetic, admitted full liability and assured me he would arrange for a replacement bike without delay. He referred me to his insurance company and despite getting an independent valuation of £2,100 from a bike shop (as requested by the insurance company) for a like-for-like replacement, I was only offered £500 to settle the claim. I attempted to contact the member to get his help in coming to a satisfactory resolution but he simply ignored my calls. Even more disappointing was the club's response as despite the incident happening on their property and caused by one of their members they said it was nothing to do with them so wouldn't get involved. So almost a year on, I am still personally paying off the cost of replacing my bike. I would think twice about any involvement with the club as from my experience, although they position themselves as a community organisation, they are only there for certain sections of the community.
Brilliant setting and facilities with super friendly staff and volunteers
They host disabled teenagers on 2 days a week to enable them to sail modified sail boats which give them a independent experience which they really enjoy. It expands their life skills even when some are none speaking communicate their happiness and wish to return .
I can't recommend this club enough, a friendly club run by experienced and very conscientious volunteers. The quality of the training that they provide via their RYA courses is fantastic and great value for money. I'm currently doing the level 1 and level 2 RYA course, it's interesting, fun, and exhilarating when the wind picks up!
Not welcoming at all I got told is a private road by a old man saying we are not allowed and need an appointment when on google maps it says is public and 24/7 we just wanted a membership
