Swarthghyll Farm

The bunk barn was quite nice, very big and lots of outdoor space, we booked the whole bunk barn as we went with a big group of friends. We went during a heat wave so it was very warm but the downstairs where most of the rooms are seemed to have some sort of ac or something which was really nice. The only problems we found was the water was quite off putting because for some reason it was yellow, there were loads of horseflies around and the carpet was quite scratchy on your feet but obviously the owners can’t do anything about the horseflies 😅

Very beautiful location and property. Rooms were simple but included a very nice kitchen. For us, lack of window in bedroom was a negative - missed knowing we had a second exit in case of fire - but that might not bother others. Certainly dark for sleeping! The host prepared our dinners in advance which we just heated up - all were tasty. Especially enjoyed the dinner salad made fresh - yum. Lunches provided for our hike really felt overpriced for what we got - but then again, we were a long way from restaurants. Arrangements were made via multiple emails and had to pay in cash - some more automation would be nice.

Great accommodation in a lovely location. Service was excellent and the set up is very professional. I stayed in the Studio whilst walking the Dalesway. It's right on the route no 'wasted' miles. I had ordered soup, a pizza and beer for dinner. The cooking instructions were accurate and I had a very filling meal. I enjoyed an equally lovely breakfast the next morning. Highly recommended. Perfect if walking the Dalesway and worth considering if you want to explore the local area.

Lovely spot in the Yorkshire Dales tucked between the rolling hills. Access is slightly limited as the last mile is on a tiny rocky road, but most cars should handle it fine. The house itself is mostly well maintained and plumbing issues were addressed quickly. The curtain in between the showers are an interesting choice however, it would be nice if there could be something more solid separating the shower users. Only things that need a bit of TLC are the items in the game room.

I stayed as part of a walking holiday on the Dales Way. The farm is right on the trail in a beautiful remote location. The accommodation was self contained and it was nice to have a private sitting area to relax at night and rest tired feet. The food supplied was excellent, the evening pasta meal was fantastic and the next days packed lunch was great. What made the trip even better were the hosts, who were friendly and made the stay. Thank you. I would stay again and I would recommend.
