Great range of quality products and a very helpful and knowledgeable owner. When I next need any kit I will wait till I can buy it here.

Looks like it has everything, however it lacks information. Said ‘Closed’ on the shop window, when it should have been open. Having been the owner of a shop, I appreciate that owners need a break, but providing a little information on when you’d be open again, really would be helpful.

I bought a Leatherman a while back. The shop owner was really helpful in helping me choose. Although I expected to pay slightly more for the convenience of getting it immediately, it was the same price as Amazon. Great service and competitive pricing!

Came to Nidderdale for a walking holiday and my wife forgot her boots! Fortunately, Sypeland Outdoors was close to our campsite. The shop is small but crammed to the gills with everything needed for outdoors, from jackets that make one look like a country gent/lady to top quality hiking gear. Tim the owner was very pleasant and helpful, and my wife was soon fitted out with sturdy new footwear. After a quick 6-miler along the Nidd to break them in she declared them more comfy than the ones she forgot. Ours was a distress purchase but this is also a shop to browse and a welcome alternative to the big chain stores.

Having visited whilst on holiday we stopped by as we wanted to see if we could get a gift for a relative. When in the shop I saw an item which I thought they would like so sent a photo message to a relative to check they didn't already have it. The male shop worker came over and made a sarcastic comment along the lines of 'have you got your photos you wanted' I was taken a back replying I've sent a photo to a relative as interested in buying the item. We continued to look around the shop but felt very uncomfortable there was no signage to say you could not take a photo otherwise I would have asked. My relative then rang me whilst in the shop and the item was what we were looking for. I went to the till and purchased it and explained why I had taken the photo. The shop worker didn't acknowledge my comment. I've worked in retail in a similar shop and we would never speak to customers like this, we would acknowledge their conversations and at least have shown understanding. Such a shame but I wouldn't rush to go back. If they're not happy about 1x photo being taken perhaps signage is more clearly needed.
