Nice spacious pub/restaurant. Very clean inside and with a nice outdoor seating area. Enjoyed sitting outside, having a few drinks in the sun. Decent enough selection of drinks. To give an honest opinion on the food we tried: the steak and ale pie was filled to the brim with melt-in-the-mouth meat. Nicely flavoured and complemented well with the ham hock peas. I’d probably prefer a little more seasoning, but it was nice and I would eat it again. Side of chips was fine — full of flavour and a good portion. The mushroom shawarma was a bit of a letdown. Mushrooms did have a nice flavour, however mild tasting. The dish was very dry and difficult to eat — it needed more sauce, perhaps some cheese. Probably would not order again. Also had a side of Chinese salt and pepper potatoes — nice, enjoyed them. Overall a nice experience — pleasant, friendly staff, all smiles, nice clean place, and overall enjoyable food. Definitely worth visiting if you’ve not been before.
Just been for Christmas Day lunch with my husband and 2 children. We were meant to be also taking my parents in law but they are both too poorly (one has terminal cancer and the other is in hospital and has Alzheimer's). The staff kindly boxed up my parents in laws' meals for us to take for them. The function room was beautifully and tastefully decorated and not too packed together. I've been out on Christmas Day before at other restaurants that were more expensive by quite a lot but I would say the New Inn was miles better than any of them. Last year we paid £130 a head somewhere else, the New Inn was £75 and far superior. Lovely atmosphere, lovely staff and lovely food. We do come here regularly for a meal on a weekend after a long walk usually, and will continue to do so and recommend it to others. It's really improved massively over the last couple of years. Thank you.
DO NOT BOOK HERE!! My wife and her friends recently booked a baby shower here. They had booked a tipi but what they were greeted with was were leaky freezing tipi and a stack of tables, chairs and crates of beer with nothing set up. When my wife asked for some support she was told they are short staffed today and they would have to sort it themselves. Both my wife and her friend had babies with them. I can imagine the look of bewildered faces. Forcing two women with newborns to set up and move stuff from a previous event. How on earth you can provide such a shoddy service is beyond belief. Luckily the bar man (who was drafted in at short notice) did his best to help when he arrived an hour after my wife and friend had set up. The fact your own staff call it a shambles speaks volumes for your management. Yes they got a full refund and an apology. But I would advise everyone to be mindful about booking any events there. My advice is simply - Don't do it.
We were booked in for Christmas dinner the 4pm sitting on Christmas day on arrival the staff were very attentive but meal was poor we had prawn cocktail for starters that looked like it had been scraped together on a plate the dinner itself consisted of 2 sprouts hardly cooked my husband only got one ! I got one green bean he got none ! We got one parsnip 1 carrot 2 roast potatoes 2 slices of Processed Turkey stuffing and instant mash potatoes. Followed by a small dessert definitely not worth the £75 each we had paid will not be returning next year. Don't know if the earlier sittings were more generous in their portions as we felt they were struggling to cover our meals ! And the next day we both had very upset stomachs most likely the prawns and salmon being not refrigerated all day !
Very good staff a warm welcome and looked after for the whole time we were there as a group of 6. Hard working and attentive. Nice cocktails. The food was ok but I think I ordered the wrong thing.
