Built as a reservoir to run the waterwheel at Kirkwood Mill. It was formerly known as the Hawksworth Dam after Jonathon Hawksworth owner of the mill in the early 1800's. Not much more than a big puddle in a field these days though does get used for fishing and attracts a bit of wildlife. A bench would be nice but clearly visitors aren’t encouraged. Maybe that’s a good thing though.
Lovely parking spot great view of lake with wild geese Enjoy
