The RC Church of St Joseph in Pickering is a listed building (grade II) by renowned architect Leonard Stokes (1858-1925). It was built in 1911, and at the time he was president of the Royal Institute of British Architects. He was known as 'the architect in a dressing gown' - his work attire, and he designed many RC buildings, but also did country houses and ...telephone exchanges (about 20 of them). Inside St Joseph's is a font by Eric Gill. Unfortunately the church is not open to the public daily (otherwise I would have given it 5*).

We are visitors to St Joseph's twice a year whilst on holiday in the area, we are always given a warm welcome by the Priest and congregation and feel part of the parish
