Capplemans Fish and Chips

We were travelling through and stopped for something to eat, and we came across capplemans, we all had a great meal and really enjoyed it. It was lovely to see the food being cooked right in front of you, showing confidents and passion in my opinion. Will definitely recommend it other's passing through the town. 👍

This particular fish and chip shop can be found along the main drag of shops in the town of Pickering. Went in here for dinner, I chose the medium haddock and chips. I thought it was a little pricey, but the fish and chips were excellent so you get what you pay for. What intrigued me was the coffee, a fish and chip shop advertising a coffee roaster, so I had to try the coffee there. The coffee was nowhere near as good as the fish and chips, it was ok. I was expecting specialty coffee level but this is a fish and chip shop after all. I will be coming back here again, just for the quality of the fish and chips.

What a brilliant meal we had. Fish and chips in 3 portion sizes with fantastic beer and cider. It set us up well for a night on the town. 🤗

Amazing fish and chips, and a belter of a hot curry sauce! I had a cracking large cod and chips - light, crispy batter and tasty fish, no grease, no soggy chips, just fantastic. Mrs had the fish pie and was equally bowled over. Staff were also friendly and the whole place was very nice. 10/10 It was a huge bonus it being dog friendly, I would absolutely be back next time we visit!

It was a Monday afternoon, and the market was closing up. We arrived in Pickering to find nearly all the eateries closed. We went to Capplemans almost by default, but what a lovely surprise. We ordered three meals - the staff were excellent. Fantastic food. This is not just a fish and chip shop. This is good food. It is also at a reasonable price. The vegan options were as good as the other meals. The crispy batter on the vegan sausage a revelation. I had two fish cakes, full of flavour and a small portion of chips- which defeated me. We also ordered the sea food platter, which delighted being full of 5 or 6 varieties of fish. Finally, a good drinks menu. This is a wonderful place, care is taken over every aspect of the menu, drinks and service.
