Came here today before the Santa Express train at Pickering station. We have visited Bothams in Whitby quite a few times but never in Pickering. Once through the door we patiently waited to be seated and I’ve got to say the staff were super friendly and really helpful. I’d looked at the counter to see what they had on offer and I was pretty spoilt for choice. I had a small pork pie, a treacle tart, my daughter had a pink iced fairy bun and my wife had a latte. The pork pie was lovely but the treacle tart was very average and I was looking forward to that the most. The coffee wasn’t the best either but my daughter really enjoyed the fairy cake. I could have just come on a bad day but we will be back for sure as we have had some lovely food from other Bothams over the years.
We had lunch in the garden using the app to order out food which was easy to use. The garden was very pretty and well kept and there were covered areas on some tables in case the weather changed. The staff were very friendly and polite and we were served very quickly considering how busy it was. The food was gorgeous and massive portions for the prices. I was so happy that they had a lovely loose leaf decaff tea option so I didn't feel like I was missing out on the other fancy teas.
Stopped off in Pickering during a weeks holiday in Scarborough. Tucked away off the main street it was a perfect little find. The cafe is small, but there is a terraced garden at the rear which offers extra seating when the weather is favourable. We were welcomed by friendly and homely staff and when ordering our food nothing was too much trouble, even with picky teenagers. The food came very quickly and was really fresh. I had the Ploughman's lunch, which didn't disappoint and was very filling. Everyone's food was faultless and the atmosphere of the cafe was very relaxed and homely. On the way out we stopped and purchased a few pastries to take away for another day. If you are even in Pickering it is well worth getting off the main street and stopping for a cuppa and cake or anything else that takes your fancy from the menu.
Afternoon tea for hubby's birthday, was so fresh, beautiful sandwiches, with crusts off, tasty scones, with jam and clotted cream and then a large piece of cake, so delicious, great service, a real treat, we had the Yorkshire afternoon tea, with a large pot of tea, just wonderful, thank you
Lovley tea room didn't have long to wait for a table even though we went at lunchtime. The staff were friendly and helpful the food was lovely well worth a visit thanks .
