I rarely leave negative reviews, as it is something I genuinely dislike doing, but I feel I have no choice after my recent experience at Mark Lee. I had visited this salon multiple times for full-head blonde highlights, always booking with the same stylist and always leaving satisfied. Given this history, I felt confident returning for what should have been a straightforward, routine appointment. My highlights had grown out, so I simply requested that they be lifted higher, blended naturally, and maintained the low-maintenance look I previously loved. However, when I got home, I was shocked by the results. The highlights were harsh, streaky, and extremely yellow, with a stark contrast between my brown roots and the blonde. I had also agreed to lowlights, something that had always been subtly done in the past, but instead of the soft light-brown dimension I expected, I was left with thick, black streaks throughout my hair. I was devastated, especially because I had trusted this stylist completely. To the salon’s credit, they responded to my email immediately and offered to fix it, free of charge. I returned the next morning, explained that I had a train to catch later that day, and was assigned another stylist. I made my wishes very clear several times: I only wanted my highlights to be blended naturally into my brown hair. The stylist seemed to understand, although she explained that the black strands could not be safely lightened without risking severe damage. She told me she would add “a few more foils” to soften the contrast at the roots, and I trusted her judgment. Unfortunately, this trust was misplaced. After more than an hour, I was taken to rinse and dry my hair. As soon as I saw my damp hair in the mirror, I realized something was terribly wrong. My entire scalp was bright orange - not blended, not corrected, but fully bleached. Once dry, the colour became a brassy yellow. I had asked for subtle blending; instead, I was left with no natural brown hair at all. I couldn’t help but burst into tears. Mark Lee did come upstairs to check on me, which I appreciated, but by that point the damage was done. There was nothing that could be done on the spot to reverse such extensive bleaching, and after two failed attempts by two separate stylists, I no longer felt comfortable letting anyone there touch my hair. When I went to process my refund, I was accidentally charged an additional £140 instead of being refunded. While this was eventually corrected, I was told the refund would take several days to return to my account. I left the salon crying, with wet orange hair, humiliated, and more than £200 short in my bank account. I did receive the refund and an email apology from the salon, which I acknowledge and appreciate. However, a month later, the impact remains. I have spent over £100 on box dyes, purple shampoos, hair masks, and anything I can think of to correct the colour, but nothing has helped. My hair is damaged, my confidence has taken a huge hit, and my trust in salons has been permanently destroyed. I understand that mistakes can happen, and I have made every effort to remain fair. But this experience caused significant emotional and financial stress, and the results have been genuinely distressing. While this is perhaps just two bad mornings for them, it is something that has completely wrecked my confidence. I heavily suggest that all staff members be retrained in all colour services.

Loved my experience at Mark Lee hairdressers & skin clinic! The staff were extremely friendly from the moment i entered till the time i left, the salon was clean and done to such a high standard and i was made to feel so relaxed throughout. I left feeling very confident and ready for my big christmas night out and I owe that all to Leah. What a star! A very happy customer and will definitely be back!"

Gorgeous Blonde! Wow, wow, wow. Heidi is a dream. I have had my hair blonde for the last 15 years and can safely say this is the most I’ve ever loved my hair. Creamy, milky blonde that has been unable to be achieved by other salons. I am absolutely in LOVE with it and it’s growing out great too. Looking forward to my pre-festivities top up this week, for my fabulous hair but also a nice coffee and Chinwag!

I'm the sort of guy that doesn't like going to new places to get my hair cut. Once I find somewhere I like and feel comfortable, I keep going back. My last place closed due to the owner emigrating so it forced me to try somewhere new, so I tried this place and I have found my new spot. Nice atmosphere, staff are friendly, and I am really pleased with my haircut.

Had a lash lift and tint, a brow lamination and nails done today with Lily. I was so relaxed I almost fell asleep. I’ve never had my brows laminated before and I’m so pleased with the result! I’m also obsessed with my nails so thank you Lily, I’ll be back soon :)
