Called in during busy Saturday lunch: Fish (haddock) was lovely - 5/5 Batter was light and crisp - 5/5 Unfortunately the chips were a mixture of around 50% decent and (I presume) 50% an old batch that had been sat warming for too long as a large amount of all portions were very hard. Sadly let down an otherwise great meal. Perhaps just unlucky, but maybe something to keep an eye on as it definitely shouldn't be happening with a strong turnover of customers! Need to make sure that older batches of chips are served up before they get into such an unpalatable state. But that said, the most important thing for any fish and chip shop is the quality of the fish + batter, and that was top notch. Hopefully the chips will be better next time.
I travel around the country a lot and have never found a better chippy than this for value and taste. The portions are huge, chips are like old school proper squishy chips just not wrapped in newspaper anymore and the fish is chunky and fresh with good batter not the horrible dripping with grease see through crap you get normally. Very fast service everytime too the girls are really focused
We often pop in for fish and chips from Scrumptious. Staff are always friendly and the place is spotlessly clean. The fish and chips are delicious every time. 10 out of 10 from us 😋
Haddock and Chips for £7. Tasted delicious. Curry sauce will be tried next time as I popped in just before closing. Haddock was cooked perfectly and was one of if not the best I have tried in Redcar, especially for the price.
