Oliver's Fish & Chip Takeaway

Visited today. Ordered a small and a large cod special (cannot get haddock on a special), it comes with bread and butter and a mug of tea (no teapot). On arrival both chips and fish looked rather anemic. Both were cooked.loads of chips on both plates, but a little bland. The fish, decent portions, but very wet and the batter on the bottom very soggy (probably been frozen ?) and to be fair not that tasty. We haven't been for approx 1 year, thought we would give it another go, as it wasn't the best last time. I couldn't believe it when was asked if we wanted any sauces and were advised we would need to pay for tartare and tomato, at 30p per small pot. That is the first time Ever at a fish restaurant I have been asked to pay. £34.80 total cost. Staff were great. Service spot on. Facilities very clean.

I agree with others who say it is a little bit expensive when it comes to chips given they are just potatoes cooked in the fryer but most other places are these days, so I won't claim to know the industry and what businesses are going through there. I am sure they have their reasons for the prices. That said, 99 times out of 100 this place is very good. I've never had a bad encounter with any of the staff in there and I've been in well over fifty times. They're all very friendly and helpful. The shop itself if always very clean and reasonably spacious. They let you put your own salt and vinegar on which is a big plus in my opinion and their buns are always well buttered too which is good. Just an overall good place to go for some food. Yes it can be a little bit expensive but the quality is usually always worth the money. Personally, I would rather pay a tiny bit extra for the comfort of knowing the food is going to be good. Redcar would be a lot worse off if we didn't have places like this on our doorsteps.

Visited today really lovely staff. Freshly cooked to order and quick service for a big order. Staff let me sort the meals out for each person and packed in a bag so we could eat at the beach x4 reg fish and chips x5 large battered sausage x2 normal sausage x3 chips and x2 large curry sauce forks napkins 2 bags and bag of scraps £71 The nicest light batter and none greasy chippy lovely fluffy big chippy chips.would recommended and will visit again the staff were so helpful and lovely. I always get takeaway from the restaurant and drive to Saltburn Beach to enjoy my fish and chips there. The best thing about their fish and chips is that the fish is always fresh—no smell at all. Sometimes there's a queue, but it's definitely worth the wait.

As an American, it's really hard to find an authentic fish n chips shops that serve amazing food. The fish was cooked to perfection and the chips were amazing. It brought back wonderful memories of being a child, running the the shop for my nana. Really love this place. I really would like to take the shop home with me!😁
