Amontola Indian Restaurant

Really enjoyable meal. Visited over the christmas period. Swift, efficient service at a time it started getting busy. Tasty dishes, particularly enjoyed the special starter (forgotten the name now a few weeks after our visit) but was a mix of various items, all scrummy! It's many years since I'd eaten here so our visit refreshed memory of how good it is. Shan't be making the mistake of waiting years before my next visit! Will return swifter!! Whilst there they were exceptionally busy with takeaways too. Sign of the quality, plus to keep the service standard in the restaurant high at the same time as this.

Tbh I don't know how the Amontola has so many high scores ..... the food at best was so-so and rather disappointing. The pickle tray was bland, onion bhajis must have been reheated as beyond crispy , lamb chops bore more than a passing resemblance to pork chops , masala fish was fine but that was the only one . Out main was chicken tika masala in which the sauce was so heavily coloured it was not good on the eye , garlic naan was fair. Our waiter asked how our dinner was and I did say it was so-so and we expected better to which he nodded ( perhaps in agreement) So overall not too good , shame really but there you go.

Beautiful curries lots of flavour and plenty chicken we got madras and tikka balti, onion pilau, amontola special starter, chips and garlic keema nan. The place was packed when collected our takeaway. Can recommend and staff really polite.

Amazing place for quality Indian food, with a wide variety of dishes. This place is wonderful the staff are very friendly and informative. The place itself is spacious and nicely decorated, love the huge paintings on the walls this is a real charming Indian restaurant.
