Richmond Racecourse Grandstand

Great free place to walk, cycle or for dog walking in Richmond, North Yorkshire. It has two car parks, one at Whashton Road and one at Hurgill Road. Once a thriving horse racing venue, but not since the late 1800’s.

A shorter walk than I expected to the old grandstand and back was only 2 miles, but the views were wonderful on a sunny day. There is plenty of space, so you don't feel like you're in anyones way. A great place for both dogs and kids to run around and plenty of different paths to follow. It was lovely to see Richmond Castle in the distance. It's very open, so bring an extra layer in case it's windy. I've struggled to find the car park for ages but now I finally know, I'll not miss it again 😂

Lovely place to visit with the old grandstand ( though sadly overgrown and not accessible). It's a big open space with views down to Richmond and beyond.
