We visited South Lodge yesterday with my family, who live locally in Ripon, and it was a really enjoyable experience. The pub, which is perfectly located just a mile out of town, has recently reopened under new management. Although we didn’t get the chance to meet them personally, the team on the floor were extremely courteous and made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived. During dining, we were looked after by Jasmine, who was absolutely lovely and went out of her way to make sure we all had a great time. Her service really stood out and made the visit feel relaxed and friendly. A particular highlight for me was the chicken wing starter with Carolina Reaper sauce — absolutely fantastic, but definitely not for the faint-hearted. It was seriously hot, in the best possible way. After chatting about how good it was, Jasmine kindly checked with the kitchen, who very generously let me take a little of the sauce home, which was a much-appreciated and unexpected touch (5/5). I followed this starter with the chicken tikka masala, which was exactly what you want from pub food: hearty and comforting. All in all, a great visit. Wishing the new management and their team every success for the future — we’ll happily be back when we visit again in the summer.

My first visit for some time. Although busy the staff were on their game, friendly and welcoming. Good selection of drinks and food too. Meals arrived with mimimal/no delay, great value for money. We would definately recommend. Good job.

Absolutely lovely to see a buzzing pub on a Sunday afternoon. Will and his wonderful partner made us feel really welcome. And the food was great. The children really enjoyed the Christmas treasure hunt and we shall be back very soon.
