Banging all day breakfast here, top quality ingredients perfectly cooked. Friendly and attentive staff. What's not to like?
This is a great place to stop for lunch on your day out in Ripon! It is a small cafe with few tables but if you catch it at the right time it is quiet and relaxed, giving you the opportunity to peruse the art for sale on the walls by local artists. The menu has Greek influences, which is great, and offers a sensible selection of vegetarian options. The meals are reasonably priced and offer good value for money. The breakfasts, which is what we had, were very well cooked and perfect. And the breakfast menu is now available all day, not just until lunchtime despite what the menu says. The staff were all attentive and friendly. It was a nice place to visit and we will certainly be back again.
We were exploring Ripon on Good Friday, and wandered into Lula’s after struggling to find anything that offered gluten free. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the owner took the time to come and take our orders himself so he knew exactly who in our group needed GF and even checked certain ingredients with us to make sure they were safe. My partner is coeliac and reacts to even small traces so it was amazing to see someone take the time to be so thorough. We had a lovely lunch with really generous portions, and genuinely caring service the entire time. To top it off, the owner took the time to meet us back at the cafe well after closing time on a public holiday to help us retrieve a forgotten item before we travelled back to London, then NZ the following day! Some of the nicest service we’ve experienced, really blew us away.
Glad we found Lula’s cafe in Ripon for a late lunch after seeing the jaw-dropping cathedral. Strongly recommended for a casual brekky, morning, lunch or early afternoon decent healthy meal. The specials on the board outside were appetizing. Not knowing Ripon at all and with no personal recommendations, we ventured in. Service was perfect, open and attentive yet not bothersome—atmosphere relaxed, come as you are. The menu was very interesting with some really nice offerings for a small cafe, some standard fare so there’s something for everyone, but if you have some adventurous palates in your group, they should be satisfied too. I had the Greek Breakfast (pictured) which since Im on a much needed diet was perfect: Haloumi cheese, hummus, olives, falafel (breadcrumbed chickpea balls), feta cheese, tzatziki, and pita. No more full English/full Scottish for me. I’ll take a Greek brekky anywhere i can find it. It hit the spot, all fresh, all good stuff, and didnt sit heavy for the next couple of driving hours. Food presentation was very good. Everything was fresh despite being near closing time. We wont be looking for a place to eat next time we’re in Ripon, this was perfect. The prices were surprisingly reasonable so close to the cathedral. Would not hesitate to take people i know there for an adhoc cuppa. Oh, the coffee was very decent (i take it black, no milk to buffer, so you know it’s *decent*). Oh, and in the pic, thats the table we were sitting at with the manager clearing our table as soon as we stepped outside, so find a table you like which isnt covered with someone’s leftovers is not a problem youll have here.
Very accommodating. Lovely food. Boys very happy with their burgers ☺️
