|Ever been to one of those business networking events? The ones where people stand around in a stuffy room, awkwardly clutching a lukewarm drink and trying to make small talk. It can be a bit much. Making a real connection feels almost impossible when everyone's just handing out business cards. But what if there was a better way? A way to do some proper business networking while actually having a good time, doing something people enjoy. That’s the thinking behind Network Bike, a unique cycling event that swaps the boardroom for the open roads of Yorkshire. This sell-out event, hosted by the region’s leading cycling events company, Struggle Events, is back on Thursday, 16th April, for its 10th Anniversary Edition at the magnificent Grantley Hall.
A different kind of business networking
The whole point of Network Bike is to get like-minded business people together in a setting that’s relaxed and informal. Instead of forced conversations over coffee, the day is built around a shared passion: cycling. A bike ride is the perfect icebreaker. When people are out on the road, chatting side-by-side, the usual business barriers just seem to melt away. It’s easier to have a genuine conversation and build a real rapport with someone when you’re both enjoying the beautiful Yorkshire scenery. This isn't just another corporate day out; it's an experience designed to build connections that last. The focus is on quality conversation, not just swapping contact details. It's a brilliant way to network and get to know potential business clients or partners on a more personal level, making it a powerful tool for any business.
Five-star cycling at Grantley Hall
Location is everything, and this event has certainly picked a winner. The day starts and ends at the five-star Grantley Hall hotel, a truly stunning venue. Being held within its exclusive grounds gives the whole event a touch of luxury. It's the kind of great place that’s perfect if you want to entertain and impress a client. The day is cleverly structured to provide plenty of opportunities to network both on and off the bike. It all kicks off with a pre-ride networking breakfast, with coffee and breakfast rolls to get everyone fuelled up and chatting. After the ride, there’s a proper sit-down, two-course networking lunch. This is the perfect time to follow up on conversations from the ride, relax, and solidify those new business connections in a comfortable environment. The whole experience at Grantley Hall is designed to be top-drawer, making it a memorable day for everyone who attends, especially any business clients.
The ride itself: routes for everyone
Worried you might not be fast enough? Don’t be. The cycling part of the day is designed to be inclusive and fun for everyone, not a hardcore race. The organisers, Struggle Events, have planned two brand-new routes for the day: a longer 88km option and a slightly shorter 62km ride. Both routes have been carefully designed to encourage networking in the saddle, taking riders along mostly quiet, flat roads. This makes it easy to ride alongside someone and have a proper chat. To make sure everyone is comfortable, riders are split into different ability groups based on their average speed, with paced groups ranging from a leisurely 12mph right up to a speedier 20mph. This means nobody gets left behind, and nobody feels held back. Whether someone is a seasoned club rider or just enjoys a weekend spin on their bike, there's a group to suit them. These ability groups are a fantastic feature, ensuring the cycling event is enjoyable for all levels of fitness.
What's included in the day?
A ticket for this business networking event gets you a whole lot more than just a bike ride. The team at Struggle Events has put together a complete package to make sure the day is seamless and enjoyable. From start to finish, everything is taken care of. Plus, in a brilliant partnership, Scott Bikes will be there, giving attendees the chance to test ride one of their top-of-the-range bikes for the day. Imagine impressing a new client with a spin on a super bike! The comprehensive package is a huge part of what makes this one of the best cycling events in the region.

The combination of a fun activity, the stunning surroundings of Grantley Hall, and the relaxed networking atmosphere creates a memorable day.
