Bought a Ford Capri 2.0 Laser from Yorkshire Classic & Sports Cars,Dan was very helpful and not pushy, even came to open up on his day off,let me browse around a couple of cars,the Capri is amazing would highly recommend.
We purchased our classic MG through Daniel at YCSC. As we live 2 hours away arrangements were made to view. Everything went extremely well. The fact that we actually bought a different car to the one we went to view, just added to the experience. What a collection of cars he has! We had the car expertly delivered by Tony bang on time. Now we are settling in to owning our new classic. And it's beautiful and Orange! If you are looking for a classic car, you couldn't do much better than giving Daniel a call. You won't be disappointed.
I had an appalling experience with this company and would never use them again. I put down a deposit of £1000 with a view to buying a vehicle, subject to it being as described in the details and photographs. I made it clear that I would only buy the vehicle if everything stacked up. I understood that the vehicle may need some re-commissioning. (brakes, carburretors etc) When I arrived to inspect the vehicle with a friend who specialises in classic cars, we found that there were areas of corrosion both underneath and on the bodywork which had not been described nor had been pointed out or photographed close to. This included repairs to the chassis which had not been mentioned, but also obvious areas of corrosion on the bodywork itself. I requested in advance that we see the vehicle on a ramp, which would have been easy to arrange with his contacts, but this was not possible on arrival. In addition, I requested a video in advance to show close to any areas of weakness on the bodywork. This video did not materialise. When I decided not to proceed with the sale, Daniel Powell then refused to return my deposit of £1000. I have never had such a difficult experience with any car dealer in my life. I would advise people to tread very carefully indeed with this firm. In reply to your reply, Daniel, I was indeed grateful that you held the car for me until I could view it. My issue is that the car was not as described, and knowing I was making a four hour journey to view the car, you could have done far more to be upfront and detailed about its condition, as any reputable car dealer would. I would like to make it absolutely clear that my not buying the car had nothing to do with finance. In fact, I have just purchased a much better Mark V for more money. My beefs are: 1. All the photos were distant shots with no close ups of bodywork condition, which included paint bubbling around the bottom of the doors. There was an area of corrosion on one of the over riders, which had also become misaligned with the body. There were corrosion repairs underneath which had not been mentioned. All of these issues, could have had close up photos taken so we knew in advance exactly what we were dealing with. 2. I requested a video of the car with close up filming of any problem areas. You said you would do this 'if you had the time'. I would imagine, if you wish to make a sale, it is worth making the time. 3. I repeatedly asked whether we could get the car on a ramp to see underneath, vital in the purchase of any old car. This did not happen, sadly. We were not expecting perfection, and I was prepared for mechanical issues to sort out as part of the re-commissioning. I just think you could have been much more helpful and straightforward about the corrosion issues and highlighted these with close up photographic clarity. Given these facts, I think it was not unreasonable to expect a return of my deposit of £1000. I find it extraordinary that you are not prepared to return the deposit. As I say, I have now found a lovely vehicle and look forward to its ownership. It just upsets me that you could not have been more candid about exactly what was needed in terms of the bodywork problems to be sorted out. Had I known, I almost certainly would not have made that long journey. Best wishes, Malcolm
I purchased an MGBGT LE from DAN. We made arrangements for me to view twice and he was there on time. I think the best thing about Dan was, he was not pushy in the least. Polite punctual delivery. So a good experience.
