Well what a disappointment this place is. I would not recommend it if you require accessible facilities that are usable. My husband has a hidden disability and requires space and shelving within a clean shower cubicle. The toilet block on site is very outdated and needs modernising. The 1st one we were asked to use on the Howard's was unusable so we moved to the other side of the site where the facilities were only slightly better. When we spoke to reception about this they said there was a family room that my husband could use if we paid a Β£10 deposit for the key. Well this 'family' room was also in a terrible state! There was water running down the walls from the leaking shower and it smelled terribly of damp and was certainly not clean. The door was glazed so if you were in there using the facilities you had to draw a usless shower curtain over the glass door that they'd put up! My husband spoke again to reception about them not providing acceptable accessible facilities and were told that ' well the blind man thats here manages & has not made a complaint!' My husbands needs are completely different from a visually impaired man and made him feel humiliated. We asked if we could have a refund as we were not prepared to stay and after speaking to the owner this was refused 'as it was our responsibility to check that they have accessible facilities!!!!' Terrible customer service and understanding of people's needs. WOULD DEFINITELY NOT RETURN OR RECOMMEND.
Lovely campsite - good facilities a little dated but clean they do have some statics and Glamping pods - no phone signal but the camp site wifi is good and cost Β£3 a day - we paid for it and used wifi hot spot to share with our group. Great location if you like walking holidays
Excellent site have been going for decades. They've just acquired the Howard now got toilets and temporary showers. You can still use the main facilities, just ask for the access code. We went on Hardstanding and the only thing I can recommend is take heavy duty gear to remove the pegs from the ground if you've put up an awning. Very hard standing ππ
I have only been here twice but I'll definitely make it more regular. The staff are lovely and so helpful. The noise cut off point is 10pm so they come round just before that to make sure everyone is starting to quieten down. The facilities are very clean, they have 2 hours where they are closed to clean them during the day. There are half a dozen toilets and showers in each one. There are two toilet blocks one near the entrance and one down the other end of the campsite. Both very clean. There is a shop which opens at 8 for any basics you may need while your there. Due to being in a remote area there is no phone signal but they do give you access to WiFi. I could go on and on about all the positives for this site.
Camping trip First time we have been and what an absolutely beautiful place . Came in Chimney bank way (abut scary) but left via Cropton /Pickering .( Will use that way next time ) The site is bigger than you think! Great facilities staff very friendly and helpful , and the pub in the village The Coach House Inn is fab. Definitely will be back .
