A really nice location. I did not try a meal but the tea cake with tea was nice. A selling point here seems to be that the gorgeous Edwardian windows of the imperial building overlook the historic Rotherham Minster- if only you could see the thing through the clouded windows! A dehumidifier is definitely needed, and me and my mum have commented on the misty windows many times we've walked past the cafe. I have various complaints which do not outrage me, but perhaps would steer me to a better cafe in Rotherham centre (like the Minster View or Miele Delicatessen). The milk container that came with my tea seemed to be mucky, which could have easily been wiped away if care had been taken. Also the second I tried to sit down, I ultimately failed- the seats closest to the windows could not be pulled out due to the, well, window directly behind it, and the table in front! The service was also not particularly warm or professional. However, if all you want is a coffee then by all means try this place.
Such a shame this place has gone so down hill used to love it here. Upon sitting down table was sticky and had a dirty boot mark on the table! When the tea came out there was a dead wasp floating in the spout, told the server about it and she took the tea into the back and brought the same tea back out with the wasp scooped out, I was absolutely shocked. Bacon sandwich was undercooked and tea cake was burnt couldn’t have had a worse experience honestly.
The coffee is really pleasant and the prices are fair. The loyalty program, although not new, is a nice touch and is better than Starbucks's system. The staff are friendly and welcoming too and the coffee has a rich and creamy taste I love. Heavenly coffee is a great choice of coffee beans as I have positive thoughts of their fair trade beans. The variety is great too and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming too. as of this review, it's one of my favorite coffee shops in Rotherham and I definitely recommend it.
Terrible service me and my friend went this morning firstly she went to the toilet and they didn’t even have any toilet roll. Gave her some kitchen roll. We ordered a latte and a water the water was £1.50 and was one off them cheap bottles that you get in a pack. My friend ordered creamy scrambled egg with well done bacon it came was just basic scramble egg and the bacon wasn’t even a proper rind just the cheap bits out off a pack not even well done. She had nearly eaten hers by the time mine arrived egg Benedict the eggs was snotty and there wasn’t even a yolk in it the ham was a cheap slice out off a pack. It was £7.50 I asked for a refund no apology or anything I went to the counter to put it back on my phone where I was told she would fetch it to the table. Just gave me £7.50 no apology or anything so we left wouldn’t recommend terrible service from start to end
When we first entered, although we liked the interior decor and overall atmosphere, there was no drinks menu to look at. The coffee was fine but we ordered some food and were told that there were no chicken or prawns. Two of us then opted for brie and cranberry toasties which turned out to be completely black burnt on one side (photos attached). Obviously, the burnt bread was unappetising and probably changed the taste of the toastie for the worse. The brie was so runny that it was spilling out onto the plate and the side of coleslaw tasted like it was just full fat mayonnaise with some shredded carrot in it. Way too thick! We also ordered a cake that was rock solid.
