|Ever get that feeling you want to do something a bit different? Something that’s not just for you, but makes a real, solid difference to someone else’s life? It’s easy to get stuck in a routine, but a brilliant local charity in Rotherham has just cooked up a plan that might be exactly what you’re looking for. Shiloh, a charity that works tirelessly to support people facing homelessness, has just launched a brand-new fundraising calendar. And it's packed with incredible events designed to challenge you, thrill you, and most importantly, raise vital funds for local people who need it most. This isn't just another bake sale; it's a chance to tick something off the bucket list while giving back to the Rotherham community.

Up for a massive challenge?
If you've ever dreamt of doing something properly epic, then listen up. The new Shiloh fundraising calendar is serving up some serious adventures. For the adrenaline junkies, there are two chances to do a tandem skydive. Imagine that feeling of leaping from a plane, safely strapped to an expert, and soaring through the sky. It’s an unforgettable experience, and doing it for a good cause makes it even better. These skydives are happening on 25 April 2026 and 20 September 2026, with the experts at Skydive Hibaldstow making sure everyone is in safe hands.
But if you’d rather keep your feet a bit closer to the ground (but still pretty high up), there are some amazing hiking challenges. How about taking on the legendary Yorkshire Three Peaks? It’s a tough but rewarding trek happening on 16 May 2026. Or, for something truly magical, there’s the Snowdon for Sunrise trek on 20 May 2026. You’ll be hiking up Wales’ highest mountain in the dark, ready to watch the sunrise from the summit. It’s the kind of thing you’d talk about for years. These hiking events are organised with Elite Adventures, so all the planning is taken care of. All that's needed are adventurous hikers and maybe some campers ready for an outdoor experience. These fundraising events are a fantastic way to push your limits and provide much-needed support for Shiloh.
Prefer to keep your feet on solid ground?
Not everyone fancies jumping out of a plane or climbing a mountain before breakfast, and that’s completely fine. If pounding the pavement is more your thing, there are brilliant opportunities for runners to get involved too. Shiloh is looking for people to represent their charity at some of South Yorkshire’s most popular running events. It’s a fantastic way to be part of an amazing atmosphere while fundraising for a vital cause.
Here are the running events you can sign up for:

Sheffield Half Marathon on 29 March 2026
Sheffield 10K on 27 September 2026
Rotherham 10K (date for 2026 to be announced)
Whether you’re a seasoned marathon runner or just starting out with a 10K, taking part in one of these events for Shiloh means every step you run helps someone in Rotherham. Imagine crossing that finish line, knowing you’ve achieved a personal goal and helped support your local community. It's a win-win.
So, what does Shiloh actually do?
It's one thing to raise money, but it's another to know exactly where it's going. Shiloh is a Rotherham-based charity that provides a lifeline for adults who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. It's more than just a roof over someone's head; it's about dignity, respect, and hope. The charity offers practical support like hot food, clothing, showers, and laundry facilities – things many of us take for granted. They also provide access to technology, which is essential for things like applying for jobs or connecting with family.
But the support goes deeper. Shiloh offers intensive one-to-one support and wellbeing advice to help people get back on their feet. The team works to connect local people with partner agencies that can help with housing, health, and gaining the skills needed for independence. The goal is to turn homelessness into hope, one person at a time. The fundraising from these amazing events goes directly into providing this essential support and helping people rebuild their lives. Tackling homelessness is a huge task, but Shiloh focuses on making a tangible difference in Rotherham.
A few words from the person in charge
Sarah Smart, the CEO at Shiloh, is clearly buzzing about the new fundraising calendar. She said:
“This is a really exciting moment for Shiloh as we launch an official fundraising calendar of events for the first time. We’re working with expert partners at Elite Adventures and Skydive Hibaldstow, so participants will be in expert hands throughout our hiking and skydiving challenges. The Run For All events are iconic dates in the Steel City’s fundraising calendar already and we can’t wait to see our fundraisers join the incredible crowd of runners.”
She also highlighted how important community involvement is. “Homelessness is a national issue but at Shiloh, we support local people facing one of the toughest times in their lives. We’d love individuals, businesses, community and faith groups across Rotherham to get involved and help us make a real difference.”
And she sums it up perfectly: “This is your chance to participate in a bucket-list style challenge which is personally fulfilling whilst also supporting people who need our care and compassion at a critical time in their own lives.”
