Fantastic. Ambience great. Loved the coal / wood fire. Service and food both fabulous. Small menu but I prefer. Can see why Michelin guide recommend. 👍
This was the best dinning experience we have ever had in the U.K. Every course was delicious, the flavours of the food and the quality was 10 out 10. The steak just melted in the mouth, it was the best steak I have had. This place is a hidden gem and I can’t recommend it too highly. The service and atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Well worth a visit!
Given the area's rich food heritage, I've always been amazed by the lack of fine dining restaurants in and around Whitby. And so, Restaurant Number 20 shines like a beacon amidst a sea of fish & chip shops and overpriced pub food. The restaurant is cosy and intimate ran by a husband and wife team with an open plan kitchen, and this ethos spreads to the service and food. The service was very friendly and attentive; knowing when to be discreet and when to stop and chat. The menu is a small but expertly curated mix of seasonal and local produce, so naturally expect plenty of fish and seafood. The brill was the standout on this visit, but on past visits the aged fillet steak was equally delicious and perfectly cooked. What really makes Restaurant Number 20 stand out for us is the attention paid to the desserts. So many places - including those with Michelin stars - are often let down by forgettable dessert options. But here, it's arguable that the desserts are the stand out. With the Burnt Cheesecake an unforgettable experience that we haven't stopped thinking about since our first visit, and a must-have at every visit since. Restaurant 20 is truly hidden gem well worth seeking out, and should be top of the list for anyone looking for a restaurant for a date night or special occasion along the North Yorkshire Coast
Absolutely gorgeous family run gem 💎 Hidden away, this glorious lil place serves the tastiest food I've eaten in a long while. Sophisticated and delicious, each course was so good I slowed down to enjoy every bite (I'm normally a very fast eater). The limited menu was a welcome sight as too many options are a turn off, and I appreciate a restaurant sticking to a few dishes and doing them justice. I had the Roasted pumpkin and Monkfish which were both so tasty and had a great balance of flavours. The Clementine sorbet was a perfect way to end the meal but the Panna cotta looked amazing too. The venue is intimate and quite chic, not too cluttered. The host is so so lovely, I kind of want to be her best friend! The fact is family run is an added bonus as it's great to see and it works so well! I hope to be back in Port Mulgrave again soon, so I can book a table knowing I'm in for a great evening.
Probably the best meal my fiancée Kate and I have had this year. Every dish was brilliant and the service (specifically Sue) made the whole dining experience an absolute delight. We would come back here in a heartbeat and recommend Restaurant Number 20 to everyone.
