High Chapel Holiday Cottage

We have stayed at High Chapel many, many times and we keep coming back year after year. We have always had a lovely time at High Chapel - our kids also love it and feel at home there as a home from home. The cottage has nice sea views in the heart of this lovely former fishing village. We particularly like going out of high season and never care what the weather is going to be like (though Runswick Bay has its own little micro climate that always seems to us to be better than the surrounding areas). Its a lovely place to come back to after a blustery refreshing walk on the beach, to stick some logs on the wood burner and warm up again. The owners seem like very lovely people, very communicative and responsive, very accommodating and thoughtful. Very highly recommended.

My daughter and I have now stayed at High Chapel twice and have loved every minute. It is in such a beautiful place easy walk to a wonderful beach and near to many other lovely places. The cottage is very comfortable and warm and we love the tasteful way it has been renovated. It has a lovely atmosphere. The bedrooms are very comfortable. I particularly like to sit with a coffee in the morning and look at the sea. We have already booked our next stay. Many thanks to Phil and Karen who are really helpful always.

We have been returning to High Chapel for many years now and it never disappoints. The Chapel has been lovingly renovated into a beautiful, cosy retreat in the beautiful village of Runswick Bay. The Chapel easily sleeps 4 (our 2 daughters are now grown up) and is well equipped. The front window seat offers beautiful views across the bay. The wood burning stove offers generous heat as well as providing a lovely focal point to the double height living area. It’s a great base for walks to both Staithes and Whitby along the Cleveland Way. The village pub offers good meals, nice beer and an open fire after a long days hike.

A beautiful cottage with a real wow factor when you walk in. High Chapel had everything we needed and felt like a real home from home. The amazing log burner warmed up the whole cottage. The bedrooms were perfect for a family of 4, the living room is spacious and there's a great kitchen. The shower was really powerful and hot and the bath was amazing. Great location a couple of seconds from the beach and really close to the little pub which serves very tasty food. The owners provided a free parking pass for one of the village car parks. We love Runswick Bay and would highly recommend High Chapel. We had to wait 2 years for our stay due to Covid....but it was well worth the wait. Thank you Phil and Karen.

I have been staying at this wonderful house every year for the last 11 years and it really feels like a home from home. Its a beautiful space, tastefully decorated with lovely comfortable beds and a fantastic kitchen. Runswick Bay is a very special place as you can see from the photos. I really love it here and always book the chapel when I am running my yoga retreats.
