It's a gem of a building in Scarborough. Queen St. Methodist Central Hall opened 1923, built by local builder John Jaram to designs of London architect Geo. Withers. Pevsner called it 'a touch of the Byzantine'. Like other Central Halls, it doubles as a community venue. The organ here is special, as it's a WWI war memorial & is a Historic Organ, listed grade II* in the National Pipe Organ Register. By Leeds maker Fitton & Hayley in 1923/4 for the ladies of the church, so now 100 years old.

Look I am not a church man but I do believe in God. So we do go to Queen St on Saturday morning at 10 o'clock and have a slice of home made cake and a coffee. It's lovely. Cost Β£1 each all done by volunteers. We are made welcome. Occasionally we go at Christmas to the service. Try it

I can't speak about this as a church, but it is a great venue for the Scarborough Symphony Orchestra's concerts. On Saturday it was the Beethoven Violin Concerto and Sibelius 2. The next concert is on Saturday July 16th.

Always a pleasure to visit with a family friendly service. Very helpful church wardens.
