Ellis Hay - Estate & Letting Agents Scarborough

Very disappointed with my experience with Ellis Hay in Scarborough. I’ve contacted them regarding three different rental properties. Each time I received the same automated response ‘application unsuccessful due to the high volume of applicants’, which was in response to me applying to view the properties. I have a bilateral large volume pulmonary embolism I’m recovering from. I’m currently not working as an outdoor pursuits instructor due to my ill health. I want to return to work as soon as possible. I’m currently in receipt of PIP and universal credit, I have a guarantor and can pay rent upfront. I have never missed a payment and have an excellent credit score. The only reason I wouldn’t have been allowed to view any of the three properties is because I’m currently not working due to my ill health which is out of my control. I can meet the rental payments as well as provide a guarantor. I’m 24, all I want is my health back and to return to the job and volunteering I’m so deeply passionate about. Very disappointed in Ellis Hay to say the least. Discrimination comes to mind.

Disappointed. I emailed them at the start of the week to request more information on a property for sale and to book a viewing, no reply. I had to send a complaint email for them to reply to me. I had a viewing booked on a Saturday 1.30pm, viewing agent no show and didn't contact me to tell me they was running late. I got a phone call at 1.44pm saying they are at the property and do I still want to view. Wasted my time.

We got a rental property through Ellis Hay and I can't recommend them highly enough! The whole process from first viewing the property to us moving in and living here has been perfect and that is thanks to the friendly and efficient staff who go above and beyond, nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a rental property in the Scarborough area!

I can't recommend them enough! Service went above and beyond, picking up when other agencies were lacking, pushing the sale forward and facilitating efficient communication. They provided expert advice at every stage of the sale, and their market expertise, maturity and experience guided me through the decision making process. They strike a perfect balance between offering professional advice and personal support to both the buyer and seller. In short, they've been brilliant.

I Recently purchased a home through Ellis Hay and had a really good experience. The staff were really friendly and helpful, despite the fact that as first time buyer I had lots questions. They were always quick to answer my emails and made the process really straightforward. I will use again if I decide to sell.
