Mind Shop

I recently visited Mind Shop in Scarborough and was genuinely impressed. From the moment I walked in, there was a warm and welcoming atmosphere — the staff were friendly, attentive and clearly proud of what they do. The range of items available is impressive: everything from clothing and homewares to books and small gifts. Most things are well organised and displayed nicely, making it easy to browse without feeling overwhelmed. Prices are excellent. It’s the kind of place where you can find good quality items without paying much. I also liked how clean and tidy the shop is — it shows that the team cares about providing a good experience for visitors.

In the past we have donated at least 20 sacks of good quality bric a brac and clothing to this shop and made cash donations. Today we went in for a look round and we made to feel like criminals. There was just us in the shop but the woman left the counter to watch us like hawks. She then went round the other side for a better look, fiddling with stuff on the shelf while watching us. We felt so uncomfortable we left without buying anything. We are NOT thieves but if we were members of the light fingered brigade, I can guarantee you it would not be to steal second hand tat from a charity shop. Not only will we never go back, we will never donate to you again.

YOU'LL NEED A MORTGAGE! Used to enjoy shopping here as it was local to me and good for children's toys and video games. However recently, this shop and every other Mind charity shop has seen a pricing structure change and now everything is very expensive! The icing on the cake being this model car that they want £85 for!! I commented about this on their Facebook page saying that surely lower prices would generate more income over time as people would buy more and how do they justify the prices for what are actually FREE donations to them - their response.....They blocked me!! Won't be shopping here, or in any other Mind again.

We always try to buy from charity shops as it not only supports the charity but reduces the extinction of the world's resources. We are happy to pay fair prices on items and more on vintage and collectibles. This is the first time we visited the shop and we couldn't believe the prices they were extortionate!!, surely it's better to sell a lot of things at a reasonable price rather than trying to sell a few at astronomical prices. At the end of the day people have donated the items. We will not be going there again. Carry on the good work you do Mind to support people with mental heath but please revisit your pricing structure.

We regularly drop off donations to this place. However we will be finding a new charity to support after today. We handed over a large sack of good quality items, to be met with a very unpleasant encounter with a rude member of staff. There is no need.
