Dexters Surf Shop

We have just done 3 days back to back on Little Tunas surf lessons and loved every minute. The team are incredible with little ones, so patient and fun whilst incredibly professional and responsible. It was completely fantastic from beginning to end. Can’t thank you enough! John, Mary, Jess - infact everyone was brilliant!!! We will be back!

I was looking for something different to do while in Scarborough with this place being highly recommended so I did some research before booking my train / hotel plus booked in advance now that’s the key book in advance so you are not disappointed it gets very busy with surf lessons /kayak tours but it’s a well run family business so you are in good hands . I first communicated online where the response plus information I asked for was absolutely fantastic so it made me even more exciting to try this place out so I was all prepped for the day a great warm welcome on the first day but I went for the kayak hire which was fun but the tour choice is better on the second day which was absolutely amazing the instructor (owner ) was full of knowledge we might see some sea life he knew a great deal which was absolutely amazing from my point of view I was in great hands while listening to the waves or the calmness of the sea while on the look out for seals /dolphins . It was a great experience for me an absolutely wonderful experience then back at the shop where it was full of activity the staff wanted to know if we had seen anything which we had come across a seal which was an added bonus I also found out about how much the Dexters do for the community which blew my mind I know kayaking or surfing is not everyone s cup of tea but trust me you won’t be disappointed even the jelly legs didn’t put me off with the prices being very reasonable.

Had a great lesson with Steve, caught many a wave and bailed just as much! Always a warm welcome and great support from start to finish at Dexters 🙏 Be back soon.

Vikki and I had a fantastic time surfing with John who made our surfing experience in challenging conditions superb. He was funny and personable. We both had 1:1 support and John helped us learn the best techniques that (more importantly) worked best for each of us. The staff in the shop itself were incredibly welcoming. When we were checking the address to see if we were at the right place, they greeted us warmly. The lady at the front desk went above and beyond checking we had a pleasant experience and gave directions to Scarborough's best fish and chips. Thank you :)

Booked a last-minute, on-the-day, lesson with Dexters. Tilly was able to find me a 1-1 slot and welcomed me really warmly into the shop and got me set up with everything that I needed (including coffee stop recommendations!) John took my lesson and was excellent. He’s got a sense of humour big enough to sink a ship, plenty of stories to tell and a lot of patience. He immediately set me at ease running through safety, drills on the beach and an intro to the bay before heading into the water. I came away with so many helpful cues and tips for improving my surfing both on and off the board, and really appreciated how John took the time to answer all of my questions. Would highly recommend and can’t wait to book back in again soon! Thank you.
