In addition, the building houses a shop, gallery and bar, and hosts events such as weddings, charity events, business lunches, conferences and private cinema hire.

Whether you live in or are visiting scarborough, Stephen Joseph Theatre is a wonderful place to be. The auditoriums are large enough to get the full experience of the theatre but small enough to make it intimate and your event really special. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, nothing seems to be too much trouble for ALL staff. I have visited on many occasions and have never been disappointed. Situated directly opposite the train station, and having full disabled access facilities, makes this theatre easily accessible to all. 5*****

Unusual way to watch a play, "in the round". I think you'll have a good view of the performance area wherever you sit apart from maybe the very front and back rows. It's a fantastic little theatre, they will even deliver your pre-ordered refreshments to your seat in the interval.

Outstanding theatre—both the venue and the show quality. Known for its long relationship to the legendary playwright Alan Aykbourn, SJT attracts top rate British actors and delivers a top rate show. I’ve only attend in the Round space, where there is not a bad seat. The venue features a cute gift shop and solid bar/cafe.
