It took me an hour to walk there from the Railway station and it involved some very steep climbs but the view from the top was spectacular! The War Memorial is huge; a fitting tribute to the many lost in the wars since the First World War. It was sad to see many examples of 3 or more from the same family but I was also interested to see recognition of the loss of life of civilians and those lost at sea. Close to the War Memorial are some information boards. I was lucky that the weather was quite good, breezy but fairly clear, so there were some great views out across the town. If you have any problem with walking up inclines I would suggest that you drive there as there’s walk involves very steep sections.
From the top of the mount, I can see the land spread about. From the castle, standing all remote with its battlements and pinnacles, with its wheeling gulls and grassy knolls. To the town that lies in its shadow, with golden sands and open bay. The church where a Brontë lays, and cannon shot fired. I see two bridges reaching out for crossing. Then across to crumbling cliffs, and little kittiwakes calling. There is the harbour where boats lie safe within, from the choppy sea with foam a-breaking. And high, high above, the peregrine is sailing. But I see no fabled fair, no rosemary, nor hear the clarion call. The war memorial, standing tall, marks a sacrifice to be seen by all.
Memorial to those who saved our country from invaders. Good views a cafe & small car park.

Lovely views of Scarborough set in a scenic area. Plenty of parking places and walking areas around here, be aware it is part of a race track and they do have occasional race days so do check for dates before travelling. No amenities here.
