A lovely well appointed cottage in Sedbusk, a pleasant and friendly village near the town of Hawes in the Yorkshire dales. We stayed for a week in late October with our son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter and were visited by a family friend over the weekend. The cottage is spacious enough for five adults and an energetic toddler. There is a downstairs lavatory which, as I have some mobility troubles, is useful. The kitchen is well equipped and has a dishwasher. There is also a tumble dryer so no need to overpack. The garden is secure and looks like a summer sun trap. It was lovely to wake up in the morning catch glimpses of the dales rising and falling away across Wensleydale. Although Sedbusk has no shops Hawes is under a mile away and has all the facilities you need.

A delightfull cottage set in the hamlet of Sedbusk, just outside of Hawes in the Yorkshire Dales. There are three bedrooms (two doubles, one twin), a family bathroom, downstairs toilet, kitchen and a spacious living/dining room, parking for 3 cars with use of the garage for storing bikes and so on. The cottage is pet friendly which was perfect for us 4 adults and our Cocker Spaniel. The cottage is very comfortable, was spotlessly clean on our arrival, and the owners have clearly worked hard to make it as nice as possible for their guests. There is a wood burner in the front room, should you need it. There is heating throughout but we didn't need it - we did, however, have a log fire... well, we just couldn't resist!! There is plenty of crockery and cutlery should you wish to cook, with a fridge and freezer, microwave and toaster. There is a small garden to the rear, with seating and a small table, with lovely views across the Dale and surrounding gardens. Perfect to relax with a glass of something! The owners also provide an extensive collection of information for the surrounding area, walks and things to do; and if you want to stay in, there is a TV, DVD player as well as Wi-Fi. There are no facilities in Sedbusk, but Hawes is only a few minutes drive away. Be be warned, though, there are no late night shops in Hawes. There is a good choice of pubs, cafés and shops in Hawes, as well as a petrol station (24 hours), and of course, the famous Wensleydale Creamery (more tea, Grommit lad??)! We really liked Wagtail Cottage, it proved to be great base for exploring the magnificent Dales - we would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet break away from the hustle and bustle.
