Lovely country cottage right next to an old country pub. Great access to two swimming pools. Lovely walks through the village and wheat fields. Takes dogs. Kitchen was very well supplied. Problems- had to open door to let air circulate and there were no fences in back garden, so had to keep dog on long lead. Would have liked a full sized mirror, no wifi. Bath took too long to fill up, cold water tap difficult to turn off, no lock on bathroom.
The Chalet style terraced cottages were in a pleasant setting once you have driven through the pub car park to reach them, parking outside each cottage. The kitchen and lounge area appeared clean and comfortable though rather dated. There was a very unpleasant smell in the bathroom which we put down to the plastic shower curtain round the bath. The shower was operated from the bath taps and difficult to regulate, either scalding hot or freezing cold at times. The grout between the tiles behind the shower was orange. The toilet leaned at an angle towards the bath and was stained in the bowl. The external base of the toilet was very dusty and didn't look as if it had been cleaned for months, not up to Covid 19 standards!! the bathroom needed gutting, but why bother if you can let the cottage No 5 as is!! The area around Thirsk is beautiful with so much to see and do. Such a shame the accommodation didn't match.
SCAM! Avoid at all costs, after driving 4 hours they said they didn't have our booking. This took them until 9-10 to sort and tell us they can not accommodate our booking. They apologised and reassured us that we will get a full refund. However they immediately changed behaviour once leaving the property, became defensive and now won't contact us back. Been over a month and still have not received any refund or any contact back from them.
We didn't check reviews before booking. We usually do. But we did check the reviews afterwards and was worried what we might find. But thankfully we was pleasantly surprised. Especially as we brought our almost 1 year old daughter. See many reviews saying its dirty. Well it certainly wasn't for us. Yes its no 5 star Palace. But for the price we paid its perfect, Everything we needed was here. Nice and cosy. Its far from built in a pub car park. Yes its round the back of a pub car park. But that doesn't effect anything at all. Plenty of towns close by for shopping and days out. I would say make sure you bring food as the takeaway is very small. But we will certainly be back. Had a lovely holiday here. So don't let the other reviews put you off. Because if I had seen the reviews 1st I wouldn't of booked. So glad we didn't. For value for money I would give this place 5 out of 5.
We hardly stayed in as it had nothing interesting to keep us in door except a Jacuzzi and TV The houe was extremely...........BAD QUALITY Poor quality bed linen Poor quality towels Poor quality kitchen utensils Poorly furnished rooms floors cracking when you walk and even the next door neighbour could hear you watching TV or talking at night There are so many bad things in the cottage we were given that I would not recommend anyone to stay there even for just one night Location there is nothing I.e. shops restaurants or a fish and chips takeaway place π©π©π©
