I recently visited The Folly in Settle, a beautiful Grade I listed building that is home to The Folly Coffee House and the Museum of North Craven Life. The historic charm of the building made for a lovely atmosphere, and the combination of history, culture, and great food made for a memorable experience. I attended the Living Spring Ring Workshop, which was a fantastic event. The setting inside The Folly made it even more special, adding to the sense of tradition and creativity. Before the workshop, I stopped by The Folly Coffee House for lunch. I had the tomato soup and a brie and cranberry sandwich, both of which were delicious. They also had cauliflower soup on offer. I paired my meal with a latte, which was smooth and well-made. The cosy ambiance of the café, along with friendly service, made it a great spot to relax. Overall, The Folly is a must-visit if you're in Settle—whether you're interested in its history, attending an event, or just looking for a great place to enjoy a meal. Highly recommended! :)
A great coffee shop in the centre of Settle with very friendly, helpful staff. A very nice selection of cakes and pastries along with home cooked small dishes for breakfast and lunch. It was wonderful to have a selection of gluten free dishes and cakes, rare to find. A really good find and we will go back next time we venture into the area.
It's worth visiting for the building and atmosphere! Beautiful! And a gorgeous log fire burning. Only called for coffee and cake - and that's where it fell down a bit for me. I just wanted cake. Two layers. Cream in the middle. Icing on top. Not really bothered what flavour. And they had nothing. Other choices yes - but no 'cake'. I have a medical condition (caused by a lot of radiotherapy) which has left me with dysphagia and my cake needs to be moist. I thought the stollen would be okay (Sainsbury's is great) but it wasn't. It was sadly dry - even with dips of coffee. Had to swap it for my husband's Bakewell cake (to his dismay) and then leave the pastry. Such a shame. The coffee was good, the staff were pleasant and it was spotlessly clean It is obviously very popular and deservedly so. The bill came to just over £13 for a large latte, a flat white and two cakes. You can't complain at that. I would recommend that people visit and I would possibly go again and hope that they have 'cake'. Maybe once the mince pies, Christmas cake and stollen are over.👍🏻
The food is good, especially the cakes. Very good gluten free selection of cakes. For food they do gluten free sandwiches but the bread did have seeds in it which could be an allergen for some people, so I think plain GF bread would be better. The atmosphere amongst the cafe was incredibly chaotic both times I visited. It felt like nobody really knew what their job was despite having many members of staff. However, the service was pleasant so it didn't really matter.
Fabulous homemade raspberry frangipane with ice cream and a big pot of tea. I had to have a mouthful before taking the photo 🤭 Just what we needed after walking up Castlebergh. Very friendly service. Sadly the museum had just closed …. so we’ll have to come back !!
