A Disneyland version of what a speakeasy thinks it should be. The decor is great, but the drinks are... Bad. Although I was told they could make "standard" cocktails off menu, their definition of "standard" was a "like a red bull vodka". They wouldn't make a negroni, and when I ordered a Manhattan it came out tasting oddly both syrupy and overly spicey. The cocktails on-menu overall were sweet and gross tasting (we tried 6 of them). A jalapeno margarita was served with a side of lime juice that clearly came pre-squeezed from a bottle. They can't even bother to fresh squeeze their lime juice. The only old fashioned on the menu was a overly sweet cherry smoked thing. Great presentation but the drink was just... bad. Also sort of a weird fetishization of the violence during prohibition? Seems weird to celebrate all of the violent men and photos of men with guns (and an actual Tommy gun framed and hung on the wall.) Overall, if you are some sort of a village lad who thinks the idea of a speakeasy sounds fancy but have actually never set foot in one, then you'll this this place is great. If you actually like a proper cocktail, you'll hate it.
We had an absolutely fantastic time at Capones. We were reccomded through a friend but could’ve never expected what we got. A lovely girl called Beth (I believe a young girl with blonde hair) and WOW she was so knowledgeable and fantastic gave us service that we truly didn’t expect at this time of year, it’s usually so busy you barley get a hello! Will be back again thanks to that fabulous service and an indulgent drinks. Thank you 🤩
On first glance, this looks like a great venue with an air of exclusivity and quality. However, it's linked to an adjacent bar which attracts a completely different crowd and sells cheap drinks and people can wander freely between the two venues. So this absolutely ruined the atmosphere when a load of really drunk, noisy, people filled the whole section we were sat in carrying their drinks from the other venue. What's the point in having to book a booth when you can just wander in with your (probably cheaper) drink from somewhere else? I don't get it. We left early. There are better places to have nice cocktails in town. Try Public, for one. Edit: in response to Capone's reply, my point wasn't really about the price of drinks. Happy to pay for a nice experience. But it wasn't a nice experience due to the mixing of people from the venues.
Had been meaning to try this new vintage experience for some time and finally got around to doing it. We booked a table in advance and you get sent a secret password for admission inside. We were shown downstairs and as it was our first time, had the interiors and designs explained to us. Including the bath tub water feature. It really is such a immersive experience with the newspaper menus, the cocktails, the snacks, the service, the music. It’s definitely worth a visit, and feels so far away from the usual bars on West Street.
Take a nostalgic trip back to the 1920"s speakeasy, stunning hand crafted cocktails, with a modern big ban playlist that will keep you amused and guessing song after song. This place does not disappoint, the service and staff are only too happy to help, could not fault in anyway at all. Quite simply breathtaking
