Citadel Barbershop

Had my haircut with Marie at Citadel, and it was a great experience — especially as it was my first time travelling from Barnsley to Sheffield for a haircut. Marie took a lot of time and care with the details, really listening to what I wanted and making sure everything was done exactly as I asked. She didn’t rush at all and was very precise throughout, constantly checking and refining the cut to get it just right. You can tell she takes real pride in her work. The journey was absolutely worth it, and I’m very happy with the result. I’d definitely recommend Marie to anyone looking for a barber who pays attention to detail and delivers exactly what you ask for.

The haircut is great. Been really disappointed with my hair for a few months due to a couple of bad cuts and hair thinning due to medication. I let Josh know and he did a great job. Came home and styled it the way I like to and I'm very happy. Props to Josh for listening and doing a great job.

Marie has been cutting my hair for years and I have always had a great experience. When I wanted a restyle after years of the same haircut, she talked me through my options and we found something that worked for me. Citadel is a really lovely place - the atmosphere that Marie and Will have created is really special and I would recommend anyone to go visit them if they can!

Unfortunately my experience at this barbershop was not positive. I did not get the haircut I had asked for and when I pointed this out, the staff tried to put the blame on my previous haircut. I don't often leave negative reviews as I try to not be harsh (everyone can have a bad day sometimes), but in this case I think it is warranted, and here is why: I visited last year for a cut with a specific target style in mind. I consulted with the barber on whether that style was workable on my hair/head shape, and she agreed. During the haircut, I could see it wasn't going where I was expecting it to, but I "trusted the process". At the end, when asked what I thought, I pointed out that the side shape and style wasn't close to my request and the pictures I showed at the start. The barbers then tried to blame me, saying the previous cut was done wrong. Well, even if that was the case, my hair was already quite long so there was plenty of material to work with. Even if not, they should at least have pointed that out when I asked about whether they thought we could make that style work. I felt patronised and ridiculed but didn't want to cause a fuss and just paid and left. After going home, I saw a few places where some hairs had been missed and were jutting out. Won't be coming back.
