Drivalia Car Hire Sheffield

We rented a car from here and it broke down mid-hire due to a series of electrical faults. This was scary as we were undertaking a long trip with our two small children. We were told that we would need to travel back to Heathrow on the recovery truck (from Devon) to pick up a replacement car, as Drivalia do not deliver replacement vehicles. It was Christmas Eve. We instead rented a replacement car from Enterprise, who were excellent. One month later, we are still waiting for a refund from Drivalia and customer service has been disappointing. Although prices with Drivalia seemed cheaper on the face of things, I regret not paying more money and using a reputable company. *Hi, thank you for responding to my comment. We have pursued the refund through the appropriate channels but unfortunately it has not resulted in a refund, despite our rental car having to be towed away 6 days before the end of our rental agreement (see attached photos for mechanical faults of the vehicle). I think it would be useful for other renters if you could clarify whether it is Drivalia’s policy not to deliver a replacement vehicle if the original one breaks down, instead expecting the renter to travel hundreds of miles on a recovery truck to a Drivalia branch? I would have appreciated being aware of this before I made the decision to hire from Drivalia. Thank you

Got scammed — took a car filled up to 90% and returned it with 100%. Of course, they won’t refund the difference. BUT if you don’t fill it up to the same level you started with, they’ll definitely calculate it and charge you extra. Also, be careful — if you don’t have a physical credit card, it won’t work. You’ll have to pay £1 once the card is inserted just to verify it, whereas at Arnold Clark they only do a £0.01 check. On top of that, you’ll need to leave a £750 deposit if you don’t choose the “full” protection, which costs £35 per day. Meanwhile, at Arnold Clark, they only take the money from your account if it’s actually needed. So if you think they’re the cheapest option — well, just make sure you don’t fall for it.
