My go to place for rapid charging when I'm visiting Sheffield. Recently upgraded with InstaVolt's newer 80kW units, they have always worked for me using the InstaVolt app. The KFC next door is open from 11am and handy for coffee and a toilet stop. It is a popular spot though, Sheffield hasn't got great EV charging provision, so it does get busy with only two charge points. They can be a little slow in their initial ramp up to full power compared to my experience with other InstaVolt units of this type, hovering around 1kW for about a minute before then ramping up to the full charge power, which will depend on your car, but I reliably get 60kW into my MG which is near the car's limit when the battery is cold.
Really simple to use, both devices were in use. Contactless payment makes such a difference from messing around with apps. Price is pretty high, but it's convenient and reliable. Best provider after Supercharger network.
I connected my electric vehicle to the charge points at Queens road Sheffield KFC car park, I authorised my session with my card, £45 was taken by InstaVolt, however 30 minutes into my session the charge shutdown and support said it lost connection whatever that means, I’ve been fighting to get my £45 back for the last 2 weeks, their support has tried their best to keep it which is quite surprising really as I’m guessing they have a reputation to protect. I warn anyone reading this done authorise £45 or £15 because if anything goes wrong you’ll not see it again.
Rubbish made numerous attempts to use these charging points it tells me out of order when using app but does work using card payment but then it's full price which is dearest rate charged
Point 1 (left) working fine. Point 2 (right) card reader seems to be unhappy, couldn’t get it to recognise cards.
