I was suffering with a huge mental crisis and I was really ready to end it all in the beginning of the year I was then sectioned and sent here and keeley was one of the best there and thanks to care staff I was able to find a small tiny bit of happiness even after my legs stopped working when I became paralysed there were still helpful visiting me in hospital Now I'm fully back in control over my mental health and I'm back on my feet doing what I love the most and that's being a wrestler and it's all because of cygnet and keeley (I think that was her name) and everyone on pegasus ward These are the photos of the last 1 month Thank You Saving My Life

I spent some time at Cygnet Sheffield on Pegasus ward as part of my nursing placement. This was a great learning experience and I saw first hand how much the team care about the young people that they are supporting. The staff, management and entire team were all very welcoming. The Nurses were also very supportive of my learning and helped me make the most of my short time there.

Just randomly remembered the time the ward manager here had me and a couple of other patients strip searched because she was convinced I or they had a cigarette lighter (we didn’t). When she realised she’d got it wrong, she threatened to have me moved to another hospital even further away from my family for causing so much ‘trouble’. And there was the time before that, when I took a plastic plate and broke it and used the shards for SH, and the ward manager sat me down and said that if I damaged hospital property again, she’d ring the police on me for criminal damage… of course, no mention of, or concern for, the gouges in my forearm. She is an utterly disgraceful woman who made emotional decisions and was never held accountable for her mistreatment of patients. If only I could remember her name! I think my experience is still relevant regardless of whether she still works at this hospital, because it highlights the lack of accountability when staff mistreat patients. She seemed to bully her way out of any consequences. I also think it’s important that I mention that at any one time, half of the staff were bank staff, and at any one time, only half of those bank staff could speak English fluently. They were also very poorly trained and some spent most of their shift sat down looking at their mobiles. The ones who could speak a good level of English were often very nasty, with warped perspectives on how mentally ill adolescents should be treated. A hospital where a quarter of the staff cannot even speak fluent English surely cannot be safe or effective… In short: - UNSAFE - INEFFECTIVE - NEGLECTFUL - NO ACCOUNTABILITY

My time at Cygnet Sheffield – Pegasus Ward was a valuable learning experience. I had the opportunity to see first-hand the dedication and compassion the team show towards the young people they support. I’m especially grateful to Stacey, the manager, for her great leadership; my supervisor, Kelsey, for her guidance; Pam, Tapiwa, Lydia, and David, and the amazing team of support workers for making my placement such a positive and supportive experience.

I was a patient on griffin day staff are always brilliant most of the time but the agency staff that are found mostly on night staff are often neglectful and do not care about your well being they would rather sleep than try to keep you safe or engage with you. But other than that most of the permanent staff do care and will try there hardest to make an impact on your recovery I wish I could have continued my recovery journey at this hospital but it was time for me to move on to another hospital thank you to the staff that genuinely cared it meant a lot.
