Visit to NGH A nE on Sunday 24th November tragedy very quickly and efficiently . My visit went down hill from there on department very very busy with a very ill lady who needed to be on her own , waited 7 hours to be told I hadv2 options either go to my GP and the Dr would send a letter to them and encourage them to send me to outpatients and she would give me antibiotics, 2 wait in the waiting room and then go to the surgical ward when they had a bed she didn't know how long I would be waiting to see a Dr we had already waited 7 hours . I was ill and I can't handle hospital I have had too many bad experiences in hospital my husband tried to explain on several occasions each time it fell on deaf ears.My experience on Sunday was awful and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

I am deeply concerned by what I personally witnessed in the geriatric ward at Northern General Hospital, which appears to reflect wider systemic problems across the hospital. Elderly and highly vulnerable patients were frequently dismissed, spoken to without respect, and left without adequate care or compassion. Calls for help were ignored, distress was minimised, and basic dignity was too often absent. This was not an isolated incident but an observable culture of neglect, where frail patients were treated as inconveniences rather than people who have lived long, hardworking lives. Bullying behaviour, lack of empathy, and an apparent absence of accountability created an environment in which poor care and abuse could continue unchecked. A hospital—especially a geriatric ward—should prioritise dignity, kindness, and safety. What I witnessed fell far short of that standard.

I would like thank all the Staff on Chesterman 4, the ICU, OCU and all the staff in theatre for the fantastic Heart Bypass they did for me on the 17th November, all the staff are exceptional. I am on the mend now and hopefully see another 20yrs. Thank you staff and the NHS for providing this Timing Belt Change free of charge. Thanks Paul Senior
