Abbeymoor Veterinary Centre, Halifax

Had my youngest boy in for his operation today 🍒✂️ I just wanted to say how impressed I am from the care he's received. I was definitely more nervous than he was. The vets and nurses I met today explained everything I needed to know clearly and with kindness and reassured me and my nerves. Looking to book my seniors in for a health check in the new year. Thank you!

Signed up with this vets a year ago and joined the Pet Plan. Booked nail clip for cats well in advance. I was told when booking that no nurses were available so I was booked in with a vet, Dawn. On the day of my appointment they texted me to say that Dawn was not available as she wasn't coming in that day so I should rebook! I explained that I needed a nail clip as the plan was expiring soon and as nail clips were included in the plan, I had therefore booked well in advance to avoid having to pay extra costs. Dawn then suddenly became available!? At my appointment Dawn said she was very busy training, felt I should apologize for wasting her precious time! She rushed the nail clip and hurt my cat by putting too much pressure on the paws leading to my cat scratching her! In 3 years of nail clips, mostly with another practice, my cats have never so much as flinched. This vets practice say they are a training facility so most of the nurses are students, hence the shortfall in student nurses during August to September. So if you see a nurse on Pet Plan don't expect them to be fully qualified and yes they have to start somewhere but as a paying customer I would prefer to have a choice about who I see and most importantly I would expect a student nurse to have a supervisor with them. Dawn is heavy handed and has no time for niceties, especially when she is resentfully dragged in to do a nurses job due to lack of staff! I have never ever had an issue with the other vets I've seen at this Practice, I have seen Emma Cousins in the past who is very nice and caring so I'm not saying their all the same, but it makes me wonder how they handle pets when your not there!? Lost confidence in them. UPDATE! Dawn wrote to me privately after I left the above review basically and very politely telling me to bog off! Signed by 'Dawn the Director'. Ego over care!? Totally!

I cannot express enough gratitude for the outstanding care my cat Merlin received during a recent medical emergency. The team at Abbeymoor were incredible throughout the entire experience. The staff were compassionate, professional and attentive. They treated Merlin with great care and skill, and I felt confident he was in good hands.

Always available and helpful. I’ve had to take my dog a few times recently due to new onset of seizures and the vets have been professional and compassionate. Louise in the office has also been really helpful with the insurance claim. I’ve had my dogs at this vets for almost 9 years now and wouldn’t change

Excellent vets wished we had gone there from the beginning with our two dogs. we have been messed around with another vet, but at abbeymoore vets, the lovely staff are always they to help and answer all your questions. Now my son takes his cat, and my other son takes is dog. Thanks for all you do
