The Famous Sheffield Shop
Description
This is a Sheffield institution, having traded in nothing but the finest products made in Sheffield for over 25 years. The shop carries the widest range of Sheffield made goods to be found anywhere, including unique and specially commissioned products. There are five complete ranges of kitchen knives, over 20 cutlery ranges on show, and no end of pocket knife varieties! The work of independent craftspeople is well represented in our jewellery, and we feature contemporary designs in our pewter vases, photo frames and trinket boxes. On a more traditional note, tankards and flasks remain popular. We regularly stock vintage goods made by some of Sheffield’s great names, for example James Dixon, Walker and Hall and Mappin and Webb. Our vintage tea sets are especially popular with visitors from the US and Japan
The shop brings you close to Sheffield’s heritage, with displays of antique cutlery and evocative photos of “little Mesters” in their back street workshops. The owner and staff have extensive knowledge of Sheffield’s industries and our carefully sourced books cover all aspects of Sheffield life, ancient and modern.
In addition to our wide range of stock, we provide laser etching, machine engraving and hand engraving services to personalise wedding and anniversary gifts. Through our network of skilled craftsmen, restoration and repairs to cutlery, silver plated tea sets and other metal goods can be carried out.
For a great day out in Sheffield, we recommend a stroll down Ecclesall Road, with the opportunity to explore The Victorian General Cemetery, The Botanical Gardens with its impressive pavilions and Bear Pit, and the Porter Valley starting at Endcliffe Park. These attractions are all within half a mile of the shop. Then of course there are the coffee shops, the restaurants and the trendy boutiques!

The Famous Sheffield Shop has a wonderful shopping experience, where you can buy all the products that represent the city’s culture in Sheffield. They are very happy that I can mark my hometown on the world map with a pin. From then on, a Chinese from Nanjing has passed by. I chose a pewter flask made by hand in Sheffield here. I don’t like the gorgeous pattern. The simple hammer pattern increases the friction so that my hands can hold it better, and it also decorates the wine. The flask itself gleamed in the sun.
I Was so happy to make it in while on my visit. Sheffield was the birthplace of stainless steel so you know they have the best. The staff were amazing and took the time to share their knowledge. Got to see some of the history stored in the cabinets. Prices are surprisingly good. I bought myself a beautiful chef knife as well as a few other goodies. I will be back for more.
Very helpful and pleasant staff helped me choose a couple of new kitchen knives from a decent range of local made pieces. Really pleased with them, and will be back for the sharpening service
I've been looking for a top quality pocket knife that will last a lifetime , I saw this shop on YouTube and today I popped in . The lady in the shop was very helpful and allowed me to get hands on with the pocket knives and helped me choose exactly what I was looking for , after maybe 20 minutes of browsing I left with 2 knives from a couple of the best knife manufacturers in Sheffield , the stag spearpoint is seriously impressive and will no doubt serve me well . I will be visiting again in the future
Fantastic shop. Very knowledgeable and pleasant staff. A large variety of stock and left happy with a lovely knife from Ashley Harrison. Worth a trip to Sheffield just for this place!
