Stayed here from Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th Jan. I believe it was first day of reopening after closing for Xmas, so was very quiet with few guests. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The Room was a good size with a mezzanine floor bedroom. The shower didn't work first night so was moved to 4th floor room on second day and the room was also a good size, clean, tidy and good comfortable bed, small fridge and tea/ coffee. Good location with plenty of local food places, bars and shops within a short walk Breakfast had a good selection cooked to order as so few guests and offered Gluten Free options and Continental. Nice little bar near reception and I appreciate the free drink to make up for the issue with shower. This was good value and I would certainly stay here again.
Great location for City Hall. We were going to a gig, Lovely old building. Reception warm and staff welcoming. Only one lift working. Room large and stylish. High and comfy bed. Good storage. Bathroom looked good with large shower. Unfortunately the room was cool and with a very cold tiled floor. After the gig we returned to the hotel bar at 11:00pm for a drink. Although officially open until 12:00 there were no Draught beers, the last two bottles of wine were almost empty and the single member of staff began clearing the bar of spirits at 11:30. Customers were clearly unimpressed. What a shame.
I have stayed at this hotel before and have good memories. This stay was mixed for me, my room was clean and comfortable, if a little dated now. However, the room was cold, even cranking the heating up to the maximum didn't help. I did use the electric oil heater that was in the room and that took the chill off but didn't get it warm. My room was located on the lower ground floor and connected to the Leopold Square restaurants and bars. This was unfortunate as this meant the room was very noisy each night, with the shouting and general noise carrying on until around 2am. Not ideal if you have an early start. Breakfast was OK but no more, the breakfast room was running out of things every day. No cheese one day and no pastries another day etc. However, I would certainly stay here again, as the staff were all helpful, friendly and charming. The building has real character, something sadly missing in this day of corporate style large group hotels. Very conveniently located with access to plenty of good restaurants and shopping.
Lovely hotel. The reception team were very polite and helpful. There was some noise from the venues in Leopold Square, which is to be expected. I got a lone traveler room on the fourth floor; however, it was very small. The room was not very clean. There was a sweet wrapper on the floor and thick dust around skirting and bathroom fittings.
Great stay. Staff very attentive and friendly. Great environmental ethos regarding towels and room cleaning. Bed comfy. Location superb as a solo female traveller I was able to get out and about and felt safe. Having a fridge in the room was amazing. Will definitely stay again.
